My pencil sketches

It's been a long time since I drew anything, but I used to love drawing. Here are some of my drawings that I actually feel came out decent.

Middle school I believe? This is a photocopy of my entry into "Game Informer" magazine's envelope art contest. Suffice to say I didn't win Cloud from FF7

Thanks! Yeah like I said, I think it was middle school when I entered this so I don't remember. It was a contest they held monthly and if you won they put your entry in the magazine.

Thanks bro. Pokemon were actually some of the first things I ever started to draw. I'll definitely draw a few more if I pick up the pencil. Always found Pokemon fun to draw.

 

Love the realism drawings, I did a lot of Pokemon drawings myself when I used to do speed arts on Youtube lol

 

Thanks buddy. I used to love watching the speed arts on Youtube. I watched a bunch of them when I started trying to learn to draw portraits.

 

I'm sorry for my reaction, what I was trying to explain is that when you draw with a reference image you should try to be a camera from your own angle.
You are not supposed to create a photocopy, that's what printers are for.
If you know what I mean

 

I've never drawn from imagination. I've always just looked at a picture and drawn it in an attempt to duplicate it. I don't know how you are going to tell me what I'm "supposed to do". I did the sketches at a young age as well and it's what I enjoyed doing. There are no limits on what I'm "allowed" to draw. I've changed my style to my best attempt at drawing portraits. Plenty of artists draw what they see. I still don't see a problem with this. I'm sorry that you do, but you're entitled to your opinion. I won't change what I enjoy drawing. You saying "it's good that I didn't win" is really harsh as I've seen plenty of people win with just drawing of reference images without their own spin on it. This was never a rule and never will be. If it's a forum rule to include the reference image, let me know and I will next time.

 

It's not bad using something as a reference, I use it all the time when drawing unfamiliar poses/hand gestures. I'm sure a lot of renowned artists do the same.

I love the realistic drawings, really great stuff.. I've tried to draw a few of those I'm not that amazing though XD, I personally find it hard to do features, it looks like simpler the better.

Thanks! I fell in love with realism and never turned back. I've always struggled, especially with hair. The frustration is the reason I haven't drawn anything in such a long time.
