What type of progress-related content would you like to see?

Hey guys, in the past on Sythe I had always been very active in the Runescape discussion / progress sections. I've been thinking about potentially using my free time to construct a Rags to Riches / From Scratch series. As viewers of these threads, I want to see what you'd think about this.

Anything I make would go towards repaying @Time To Buy and he could of course choose the rate at which he values the GP I make at. The series wouldn't be totally organic in the sense it's "rags to riches" or "From scratch" because I'd be using accounts with high stats to make the money. It would be crazy not to.

But I really wanted ideas of what you'd like to see. Would you prefer to see OSRS or RS3 content? Should it be a simple progress thread with text based updates? Or should it be something I actually record and put on Youtube? If it's on Youtube, I have little experience in that regard. Would you rather see the content in the videos, or would a vlog type video be better where I go into details about the methods I'm using / how much it makes / stuff like that?

I was thinking of doing something like 1 million Nature runes from 0. Maybe giving TTB every like x amount every time to keep me going / motivated. But that obviously would make for very boring Youtube content.

I know Jim Sauce has been very successful doing these types of series. He usually does king of a commentary / highlights of clips of whatever activity he was doing. But his episodes run long, usually 20-30 minutes. As a general viewer, I feel like you guys would rather watch 5-10 minute videos.

So ultimately, what content do you think would be INTERESTING and HOW do you think this content should be shared with everyone?

This would be a side project but it would be nice to be feeling productive at all times to get my debt settled so I can traditionally pardon. I figured this would be a good idea to spend my down-time on - obviously it won't make THAT much money but every little bit helps and it's a good way to prove to the community that I am fully invested in righting my past mistakes.

Let me know what you guys think. @WhoNeedsAChaser give me some advice buddi.

In the past, I've done a new account from scratch progress log, a 1-99 OSRS 99 RC progress log, a fresh 07 account log etc etc. You can look through my post/thread history to get an idea of the type of content I've done before.

 

I'm partial to RS3 content but that's mostly because I haven't played much 07. That being said, I think a "rags to riches" progress log would be more easy to complete on 07. On RS3, most competitive gp/hr is in high-level PvM. Even then, a lot of that gp/hr depends on RNG for drops and the consistency of your team. On 07, skilling is very profitable. Particularly with your high RC accounts, you'd be raking in the gp a lot more consistently. It's up to you, maybe a mix of the two would be best. RS3 PvM is very very fun imo

As far as the type of progress log, video clips are nice if you can manage. They'd probably be much more infrequent than text/pic-based updates, though. I think this part should be up to your preference.

 

I would like to see an addition of new weapons and a remake of tutorial island.

 

You should teach me how to PVM on RS3 so that I can incorporate that into the content. I've noticed a lot of people on Youtube don't mind watching both Rs3/07 as long as the content is good.

As far as experience in clip making/editing, I have some. I do have a program that is pretty good for recording and editing is intertwined into the program. I have a Turtle Beach to use as a mic, it isn't the greatest sound quality but it isn't terrible either. It's pretty good.

I just don't know what the videos should really entail. If I go the video making direction, content would have to be varied or it'd be terribly boring.

 

I'm working currently on doing a progress log from 85 - 99 slayer (drops and clues tab). I will not be selling ANYTHING until 99 is reached. This includes rare drops like visages, etc. I would definitely pay attention to anything you may post OSRS related. I would as well watch RS3, however I have essentially lost all understanding in the game when EOC came out.

 

That's pretty cool - I did the same thing. I got 99 Slayer and kept the tab in tact the entire time, I was somehow able to be disciplined enough to keep the tab in tact from 1-99. The tab itself was probably 300-400M, but the cost of supplies and cannoning all my tasks too a lot of the profit out of that. 300-400M probably an overestimation. I honestly cannot remember. I got 99 Slayer a while back.

I probably wouldn't use Slayer for this series because it's so RNG centric. That's why I've always loved Runecrafting. It is guaranteed massive profit. I'll probably start with that and move to something else in 07. Maybe Zulrah or Wyverns. I'm not really sure.

I wish every skill was profitable in the game so my content would always be fresh. But alas that is an unrealistic expectation.

 

The fact that you'd do 1M nature runes, or a series based around runecrafting is dedication for sure. I completely can't stand runecrafting and have always had a hard time sticking with it. I would totally check out a runecrafting log, as it is not necessarily common and takes loads of dedication to stick to it. Good luck!

 

Thanks man. I think that's what I'm going to do. I've already made over 1 billion worth of Nature Runes since 07's inception. My progress log on 99 can be found somewhere in my made threads. I started that log from Level 1, you might be interested in looking at it .

Runecrafting is my favorite. I know... I'm nuts.
