Free up a little more RAM in three Easy Steps!

This little hack allows you to free up a little more RAM in just three easy steps!
Note: This hack works ONLY on Windows

    1. Go to My Computer
    2. Right click C:\ drive and hit Properties
    3. Go to the Sharing tab, hit “Do Not Share This Folder, and then hit OK.

    You’re done!
This hack works because File and Printer sharing uses up RAM, to constantly make your computer connectable-to.

This tutorial was taken from here.

ya but still... some of us have to share our folders so thats not an option now is it? my house has 4 pcs in it and there are a bunch of folders on each that ppl share. also my damn parents use my pc as their file holding pc cuz i have like 200Gb free space so they put their files on my pc and share them and then access them from their laptops cuz their laptops are only 80Gb each.

Mine already came up that it wasn't shared, maybe the newer computers don't share it on default? But thanks at least I know that it isn't shared.

Didn't do anything to my computer

    Ram is still the same.

FYI it is not considered a "hack"

Oh and besides, people create sharing folders for a reason, they aren't going to just stop sharing for a little RAM.

It's good if you are going to play an online game. It stops it from sending and receiving packets from other computers which are unnecessary. Plus, it takes a little load off your hard-drive; if you had it connected, other hard-drives would be constantly checking what is on yours.

Windows XP Pro comes with file\printer sharing off by default. You have to say you understand what file sharing is and then say what you want to share. Its not automatic.
