Ethereum mining help!

Hey guys currently set my desktop up to mine Ether.
I'm running a GTX 1070 but I'm getting an insanely low hash rate - 500,000-900,000 H/s.
Why is this so low?

I have latest drivers

 

The site I set up my miner from said that AMD cards perform better than Nvidia.

I get about the same hashrate with my Nvidia GTX 880m.

 

Cheers for reply bud, yeah I was reading that the 1080 and the 1070 are no good at mining on Windows, apperantly a future driver update might patch it…

 

AMD cards have always been better at mining crypto, as well as folding. I forget the exact mechanics behind it, but it's something to do with the way the card handles repetitive algorithms, AMD is built to handle that sort of thing better.

 

Ya exactly right, I was just baffled that the newest nvidia cards can't get over 1mhs !
