I couldn't believe that I could actually understand what I was reading. The phenomenal power of the human mind! According to a research at Cambridge University, it Doesn't matter in what order the letters in a word are, the only important thing is that the first and last letter be in the right place. The rest can be a total mess and you can still read it without a problem. This is because the human mind does not read every letter by itself, but the word as a whole. Amazing? And I always thought spelling was important.

But seriously, why do people care so much about spelling, I mean, as long as you can understand something it's fine.

 

No it burns my eyes (and plenty of other people's) when people spell incorrectly.

 

No, this study does not promote bad spelling, bad spelling is getting the letters wrong.

This study was also done to test the psychological affects of how the brain reads, and does not promote bad spelling. The study was done to further knowledge of dyslexia.

 

Ok, but how it is being used today,... well, just look at the last sentence. It clearly says that the spelling of a word is not important, and being an English freak it offends me.

And these KIND of studies promote bad spelling by telling children that it is ok.

It irks me.
