I know im stupid but im programming a game in VB6 over summer. want ideas

If you have any ideas for a VB game, I will be using direct x, let me know. story line different character/NPC classes. w.e. if u have a sugestion its appreciated

also if u want in let me know, but this is my summer project.

 

Maybe a game like unreal tornoment or racing game

Yeah, whatever you do, at least add online multi-player ability. Even really stupid games can be fun as long as you can play it online. (not that I'm saying you'll make a stupid game )

 

Haha, yeah all games are quite fun. Make sure you make it online as already mentioned, and make sure you have a chatbox enabled.

 

yes. eventually it will be online. right now i just need to create the graphics and map.it will definatly have a chat server.shit i need to get a static ip. or use my website and use an ip updater (i have this workng for utorrent) to write to a txt file and have it read that.hmm lots of work ahead for summer getting peoples location will be hard. idk mayb coordinates. and hmm thanks for the ideas guys!

 

How about you make a fantasy RPG. Don't base it off any other games or T.V. shows (unless it is Naruto or InuYasha ) there are already to many games about other games and television shows.

You should include complete character customization. Like hair, hair color, skin skin color, classes, skills (based on classes) , and fully customizable items that you can modify when you level up.

 

I hope to have fully customizable characters when it is finished. I also hope to make it 3D.

 

would be nice with a game completely free of levels, and 100% skill based instead.

 

I say you go Diablo 2 style with it. You level up from killing monsters and when you level up you get a certain amount of points to use with whatever parts of your physical abilities you wish. Ex: You level up get 20 points. Physical abilities: Stamina, Dexterity, strength, defense, speed.

Then you also get skill points that you can use on the skill of your choice. To level up in that skill you must get so many skill points.

 

but then it will only be another combat oriented game, which is gay. Combat should be a part of the game, not the main purpose of the game (if it's a mmorpg we're talking about here).

 

Item creation is a must. There will be combat, in the combat world. And yes, I hope it is more skill based then combat/level based.

 

Yes it should be skill based, but we also don't want leveling skills to be too easy.

 

Make in-game moderators that can mute. A simple function really, that just disables the victim's speech data on their client to be sent to the server. This is what Runescape uses, as the client can see the text but the server cannot.

 

if its online, mods are a must. IP banning muting etc a must.

funna have to set up a website with mysql for user accounts.

 

If you make mod/admin only items/powers be sure to ALWAYS check the server before they use the abilities/items I guarantee you there will be people that try some client-side stuff so always make sure to check the server if they are truly admin before every action.

 

Add admin/mod items as mentioned above, priveleges.

Perhaps you could get a bit of money and make a member's system.

 

user accounts are going to be contained on a server so checking privliges will be needed.
