Well me being a christian and MY opinion. No because God says nobody will know when he will return. So if your not a christian you will disagree, but if you are thats how you should see it. =)

 

That's just a convenient ploy by priests and such to keep people from getting impatient, taking a look at what they believe in, and realize that it's stupid, childish, and realize that someone got them good.

As for the Dooms Day thing, the Mayans were just lazy and didn't want to make their calendar go past that.

I believe it because the Mayans predicted major eclipses and its the end of the Calender but it says something is going to happen on that day.

 

BGD, eclipses are predictable because they follow a set pattern. Given the orbital rates of the Earth and the Moon, you can determine with accuracy when the next eclipse will be.

Well they did have sophisticated mathematical and astronomical systems maybe they figured something out?

It doesn't really say the world is gonna end but I do believe something will happen on that day.
