What you need to know before you buy or sell.

First thing here are a few things you should know before you trade.

1: When Buying or Selling Never go First.

2: Everyone could be a scammer! Everyone! Be Parniod! Anyone could be hacked, or decide to scam all at once.

3: Be patient , do not hurry a trade. Don't be greedy.

4: Post Count doesn't matter.

5: Date Joined doesn't matter.

6: Vouches don't matter! (Can be easly faked , or selfed vouched)

7: Always use a Official MM if the other person won't go first. Have the MM

Buying a Runescape account.

About 70% of all accounts people buy will be recovered buy the seller.
Due to this fact it is important to know the seller of the account.
Always buy from a well trusted sythe person. (admin/mod or official MM)
Any account can be reversed. If it has no members, no recoveries no anything and it still can be recovered. Thats why it is the largest way to scam. Because not only do you get money for the account, but when you recover, sometime the buyer places more money on the account.

Always buy a non-members account with no recoveries. From a trusted sythe user. Ask why they are selling. and what will the do with the gp.

be careful many people get scammed this way.

Use a Official MM

Change the password and set new recoveries first thing. write them down.

Paypal Info

Most scammers choose to buy with paypal because its easy to chargeback.
Meaning they are in affect taking there money back after they sent it.
Some paypal buyers actually use stolen paypal accounts to purchase stuff.
So then once the actual owner opens a dispute your money gets reversed.
Alot of scammers and legit buyers prefer to use paypal because of the charge back features, so if they go first they can get there money back.

I personally would never sell anything and accept paypal, it just attracts scammers and really not many legit buyers use it.

Think of using paypal as this: You are a small kid , you sell 1m to a big kid. he then can choose to take it back from you and you will be helpless or he can be nice and let you have it.

So you can lose your money at any time no matter what. You are trusting the buyer not to reverse it or that he is legit and not a hacker.

It doesn't matter if he filed a dispute and closed it. It can be just as easy to recover as before.

Paypal is NOT safe, if your selling.

Use it for highly Trusted Members who Message you on sythe.

(Admins/Mods, Official Middle Men, and Big merchants like R2Pleasent.)
NO ONE OTHER! They could be hacked so watch out.

MoneyBookers Info

Moneybookers is a UK run company they make you create a account, and then verify yourself with ID and your address.
They say no chargebacks but really they mean no charge backs only if they feel like it. It states they can at any time they choose they will choose not to pay the money that has been charged back, leaving you with nothing and sometimes with a locked account.

This should be used in the same way like paypal. Only with Trusted people like mods and Official MMs.

WesternUnion and MoneyGram Info.

These 2 company's send money wires to different branch's of there own. Then the receiver of the money can pick it up.

They are known for there high transfer fees. normally up to 12% of the amount sent.

The money sent can be reversed with ease, until you pick it up in person and get the money in hand. Then you are safe.

Sending money you need the receivers, Name, City of pick up. State, and Country. sometime zip.

To pick up money you need a Picture ID, the name of the person sending the money and where the person is sending from. and the transaction ID #.

E-Gold Info

This is the safest way to buy and sell gold.

All money sent can not be reversed.

So make sure you have the right account number.

NO charge backs.

Its a pain to fund egold cause you need a third party like icegold to buy the gold itself, in order to fund your egold account.

On average it takes 1-3 days to fund your egold.


There is no way to get the money back once it is sent.

Scams And how they Work

Fake MM Scam!
These Scammers Try to Ether Buy or sell something.
They then assure you that, they will be willing to use a Official MM.
Most then add the Fake Official MM to your MSN Conversation. Most of the time it is the same person using another computer or program.
They then will ask you to give them the info or items, for the trade and then they run off with your items.

Key things to look for:

They will pay any amount and or buy for any amount.
They say they will pay with e-gold.
Someone who will only use one certain MM.
Someone who adds the Official MM and is trying to hurry the trade.
The Fake MM Will not be able to PM you on sythe to confirm he is the real Official MM and not a impostor.
Check the MMs email.

How to prevent being scammed this way.

Have the Official MM pm you on sythe.

If he will not pm you then he is a scammer.
He will say i will ban you, or something is wrong, i can't login .
If he will not PM you , do not trade. Its a scam no doubt.

Compare the email of the MM in the Conversation to the MM on the official mm list

Look for extra letters or Different spacing or different Spacing or hosting service. Like [email protected] is not the same as [email protected] or [email protected] and ect.

I pre-add all Official MMs and add them into separate groups and add a unique nickname to all of them.
So obviously they would be online in my group with the same nickname if the official MM is legit. But still have them PM you.

You go first, Scam!

This is the most common type of scam.


They want you to give them the item before they pay you.
They will be unwilling to use a Official MM.
Normally they say they are trust worthy.
They sometimes have fake vouches or none at all.
They say they will pay with egold. Only after they get some of your items.
They pay high. Normally $2-3 more than most. If they where legit they could buy from a Merchant for $3-4, but they won't. Because its nearly impossible to scam a Merchant whos been around.
They Offer to do 50/50
They say you go first in small amounts. Like 1m

Don't go first. Never! unless it is a Official MM or Mod and they PMed you on sythe. Even then they could be hacked.

Say you won't go first, and say you will only trade if they go first or use a Official MM.

They will buy a large amount of gp .
they will allow you to use a official mm.
They will say that there are no charge backs.
They won't trade unless you give the gp before you pick up the money.
Why? Because at anytime before the person picks the money up, the money can be reversed.

The Profile of a scammer.

1:Most scammers have low or high post counts. and have joined long ago or just recently.

2:They will ask you to go first.

3:They will say they been scammed before so they won't go first or use a Official MM.

4:They will say there company they work for will only allow them to buy or sell without a mm and if you go first.

5:They will have allot of vouches or they will have fake vouches. or none at all.

6eople will call them scammers on sythe. Always a good sign.

7:There sythe username says Baned under it. lol

8:They will Pay high or buy high.

9:They openly say they will go first.

10:They add a fake MM.

11:But a few paypal scammers who have hacked accounts will go first and will use a official MM.

12:Most scammers joined within 10days some have low post counts and others have high post counts due to spamming.

13:There msn has no information in their profile.

14:Their MSN Avatar is one of the default pictures (Skateboarder, Dog's Head, Soccerball etc).

15: There msn names are sometimes "buying RS GP".

See if someone calls them a scammer.

17: They make up stuff like. My mom won't let me go first. Or i have to go soon. Or i am trusted , so you go first.

Things You should know And do!

1: Never sell for paypal.
2: Never go first

6: Always keep your msn Private. Ether have the buyer give you the Msn or PM your msn.
7: Block any Official MM who adds you. Normally its a fake MM.

Will you go first? Or will we use a Official MM?
Will you add a fake MM?
How will you pay?
Normally those questions give the scammer a idea your not stupid and they end up leaving you alone/block you.

Ways to buy and sell and not get baned for Real World Trading.
----------------------


The most common way people get baned for real world trading is buy talking about it in game. Never say stuff like are you selling the 10m? Or " so it was $30 for 10m right? Stupid stuff like that, can get you baned.

Best Way to trade!
How this works is you both login on a members world.
You both stake each other. The Seller stakes the money or item, the buyer then stakes something equal or smaller. like a rune pl8 for 10m. Ive never heard of someone being baned yet this way.

2nd Best way is to trade items for items.

Trading a phat for like a rune pl8 and 200 bronze arrows , is less likely to get you baned then trading 140m for a rune pl8 and bronze arrows.

3rd way is trading Items for Cash.

Trading say 10m for a bunch of coal or iron is still going to be less likely to get you baned then trading nothing for 10m. The more items you give for the money the less likely you will be baned. So don't be greedy.

4th way is PKing.
This way it is less likely to get baned, but you always have the risk of being pked by someone else. There by losing the money to another pker.

5th way is Die drop Trading.
This way you both login to any one world.
The person selling the Item/gp will then get his hp low. Lastly he will die and drop all the money he had in his inventory. Then the person who bought the money picks it up. Obviously you don't do this in the open. go upstairs like fally castle and do it or something.

6th way is drop trading.
You drop the item and then the buyer then waits for it to appear on his screen and he then picks it up.

7th Last and worst way.
The seller would put the money on a lvl 3 account , he would then give you the password to the account. SO then you would have to log on and trade it over your self. or drop trade it. Most people get baned eventually for this. but u can get away with it.

These price represent just one trade. So if your selling 1000m you shouldn't charge $1.5e if someone is only buying 10m. You would charge $4e.

All are trusted, they normally buy large amounts for cheap and sell smaller and larger amounts for average price.

You have posted little guides and not 5 larger guides. I'm not sure about this one, but it's up to the User Educators to decide. I'm one soon, but atm it isn't my place to vote.

I'm really not sure about this at this time.
