Todays RS3 System update (in like 15 mins) [RIP Drop Trading]

A friend with pmod forum access (pmod acc) has leaked that 1000M (1 bill) or more dropped on RS3 will not appear. This is to combat scams and lures apparently.

So be careful if drop trading to your mules, you could lose a couple hundred dollars lol.

 

Reckon this will be the same story with shards? Or do you mean 1b+ in items or cash will not appear?

 

Apparently it's no longer possible to drop it at all.

 

What does it say when you try to drop it?

 

Its cash and items mainly as people get lured/scammed for rares like partyhats etc

 

Just tried it. it's impossible to drop 1b+

"You can not drop such a high value item."

 

What about in wildy and being killed or being killed in general? What happens then..

probably nothing changed there. The patch notes only said dropping items.

 

They also wanted people to stop getting drops such as dye on ironmans and dropping it to their main, although a way around this is killing your ironman in the wildy.

 

Good update imho. At least it will stop people from luring phats.
Luring is lying and manipulating. No worse than scamming tbh.

Edit: I know clan wars lures will still exist.

 

Do you have the source of that info? I didn't see an explanation anywhere where they said they didn't want dyes to be drop traded

Not a jagex reply so it's not really the intention of the update imo

Who even does drop trading nowadays when you can just simply multilog?

Also I wonder how people get 1b+ cash or 1b+ worth items and still fall for lures that are almost always very predictable.

 

It already used to give you an "Are you sure?" message when alching or dropping expensive items. Apparently, this is too much freedom to allow players for Jagex, now they have to manually disable the ability to throw away your own money.

 

Someone explain me how this solves luring?

 

99% of lures require a person to drop the item in which the lurer uses something like group teleport/f2p world spot/bug/clockwork items/etc They all make it so the dropped item can be taken. However, now the update will elimate the ability for a player to drop an expensive item.

Only way around this are the wilderness/clan wars lurers that are killing a person.

Basically, any form of drop lure no longer works because dropping the expensive item no longer can be done.

 

That's too bad. This game is getting too many restrictions. Luring and drop trading have always been part of it. I always found it entertaining to follow along with the lurers and try and figure out what they were going to do before they did it.

 

I did try to go along with a lure once, see what would happen, although got Lured for 54m 07.
Thankfully that amount is petty change. It was the Entrana one.

But I'm glad drop trade lures can no longer work.
