Ip Blocking the U.K On Forums

hello and welcome o my thread I basicaly made my own forum

Yer Well i saw sythe has an ip block on all the uk ip's and instead of making my website private i would like to do it

can someone please give me a tutorial on how to do this,the forums was created with www.forumotion.com

It Does Allow me to block ip's but what should i enter if i wished to block the uk

You need to use a wildcard, for example, uks start is 60, then set ip ban:
60*

 

I don't think Sythe does block UK Ip's anymore, and if you did it to your site it would be pretty stupid, as it would cut down the members on your forums.

 

AHH! That's why..
People I knew couldn't ever access Sythe.. Because they were IP blocked back in the day.
But my router broadcasts an American IP anyway.. Now i'm sure a mod or two are English.

You need to be a skilled script maker and also have full access to your website. e.g ftp access.

 

Why block UK IPs?

But i dont think it would matter anymore, they have servers in different countries.
That means they would have different IP's other then 60*

 

Their headquarters are in the UK, and to clear it up if Jagex found anything with using a proxy, they coulden't do anything about it.

 

Yes they could. In their Terms and Conditions, it says they can ban you at any time for any reason. So, they can ban you because you fletch too slowly in their book.

If they find something with a proxy, they can ban you for any other reason they want. They proxy on here, see someone selling an acc, what do they do? Pull up 1 year old offences and ban you off a technicality.

 

well Jagex's headquarters is in the UK but the have bases in outer countries for fast access for people from that country... thats why some places are offline (like a whole bunch of worlds from the same area).... so its not really hard for jagex to find you

 

Meh there really was no point to the ip block :S

 

aslong as u have that thing at the beginning saying that no jagex people are allowed on the site, then they can not legally do anything to the site.
there is no need 2 ban all UK people, its not right.

 

It's not your decision anyways. This has gotten out of proportion, and like 00_0wn_00 said, they can ban you for any reason. So if they see you account trading a certain account, say goodbye. That's why people bleep out their account info.

----owned---- pretty much answered this. I don't know UK's IP range, but that would make the most sense.

Yer it does allow me to ip block but i have to enter an ip if i wanted to block the uk what would i type in ?

 

Idk the start of their ip, but lets say it is 80, just type 80* as the ip.

 

wtf? dont block uk ips... like so many ppl are from uk who cheat fuck jagex.

 

Haha. This one made me laugh. Jagex...Using proxys.. NO.
But yeah, you dont need to block UK ips.
