Proposition.

Well, here is my 2 buckets of cheese.

First off, I think the access lists should be cleared, and only Filefragg, Curt, and thorpe have Services admin, and no one else should be higher than an OP.

I think that since the IRC isn't directly controlled by Sythe, since Curt owns it, Curt should make his own decisions, he already does mostly I think so that is good. BUT, half of the globals/ops, not saying they abuse, but they don't use their powers enough. Some will, if they see an oppotunity that they should actually DO WHAT THEIR JOB IS, and control the channel, will merely deOP/deHALFOP themselves and say, "Oh, I can't do anything now." HAHAHA, not.

Like I said, everyone should be cleared off the access lists. And, your rank on sythe, should have nothing to do with what access you have on the IRC, considering they are two very different things. Only active and responsible people should get it in the first place. Rank means nothing on the IRC, or it shouldn't mean anything. Considering most do either nothing, or abuse, which now a days they call "JUST HAVING A LITTLE FUN" while barely any actually do what their access calls them to do. Use it responsibly, and with good reason.

Respect, is and needs to be a rule. But how the actually OPs/HALFOPs have their own defintions for the rule, is a problem. Some OPs will flame another member, and then when the other member says shut up, the op just kb's them for dissrespect, when they are the reason anything happened in the first place.

The IRC has always been known as not caring, and nothing enforced, and up to this point, that's exactly how it's been, although thorpe has cracked down on it somewhat, it still needs more. Abuse is usually justified by saying it was a joke, having fun, or they deserved it. Well, guess what? As right as those reasons might be, it's still abuse, and it's against rules.

If someone is making fun of an OP, ignore them, be the more mature person. All kicking and/or banning does is get you to do exactly what you wanted.

Final note, just clean it up, half the time it's not even fun to be on there, because even when there are active ops on duty, they either do nothing, or just join in on it.

Last but not least, the whole, do not unban if you didn't ban them rule. Yeah, well that gets broken atleast once an hour. As a perfect example.

Darbysniper was in there a few days ago, I was a halfop at the time. He kept saying things against jews and about them that were insulting to even me, and I am not a jew. I kicked him once, and a flood of replies along the lines of, oh we have to get these dam fat jews off the irc, came to me in a PM, I kept kb'ing him, atleast 20 times, but what's this? OPs, such as Atomic, and a few others, kept unbanning him, because what? Oh yea, they thought calling people fat jews was funny. Grow up you guys, have a little self respect for yourself and other people.

Then, Jansen, whose vHost is something along the lines of [email protected]to. Seriously? When will it stop, that is honestly going way over the line, and the sad part is, one of the ircops had to obviously approve of it because they can't set it themselves.

Just grow up people.

I never joined the IRC because there are too many troubles. Sythe has to make IRC more clear. Maybe even provide a IRC name with registering. When the user register they can log into the IRC without any troubles.

 

full_tilt, I would of expected a different answer, but the reason you got your access taken away was suposedly from abuse, so it makes sense, somewhat. Abuse isn't always the case, it's called instead of abusing, THEY DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I think and propose that the only people will access are people who are on it often and don't abuse and use it responsibly, and it shouldn't have anything, and I mean ANYTHING to do with your ranking on sythe.

 

The one about no one being op is a horrible suggestion. Halfops can't remove modes like +Q (no kicks) and shit like that, so what if some spammer comes and floods and you can't kick them because of +Q?
