:/ All my hard work and training has come down on a saddening injury, and one that all runners dread the most; A torn meniscus.

Right now, I'm entering my Senior Season of Cross Country, and this is the most important time to up my mileage and get a strong aerobic base/threshold's for the races in September-December (FootLocker).

As I have torn my meniscus, there really is no running I can do...

What could I possibly supplement ..?

Swimming exercises? Stationary bike? Upper body exercises? (Don't wanna put on too much muscle though) Core work?

If I'm ALREADY committed to a college for Cross Country/Track.. What do I do? Call the coach and explain that I actually have a torn meniscus?

Really down right now, literally and mentally.

Any help from any previous highschool/college runners would be amazing,

    Thanks.

As an ex-sprinter (records at my highschool) I would definitely suggest swimming as an alternative. It is a really great aerobic exercise. Core work outs are so beneficial for every sport I'm assuming it would translate to cross country in some manner so that's another option.

I second this. From my anecdotal experience, the two fastest girls (twins) and fastest guy I trained with were all swimmers, and they went on to be state champs.

Don't call your coach or say anything until you start your first semester as this could jeopardize your scholarship. Get into your university and utilize the trainers man. The only thing that will get you back on track is rest time, proper nutrition, and smart physical therapy.
