    History=Lies?

    History is a lie agreed upon. Since we use history to determine how we will interpret current events, the lies distort our reasoning and allow those who tell them to create our future.

    United States government lies are nothing new. Presidents Polk and McKinley in the 19th century painted the enemies, Mexico and Spain, respectively, as aggressors in what became wars of land seizure for the U.S. The truth was that the United States provoked both of these wars.

    But events in the last half-century demonstrate that our government, or forces within it determined to shape its course, no longer considers the needs or desires of the people it should represent. Each time our leaders lied to us to cover their own actions and have led us to a silent dictatorship today.

    In 1963, President John Kennedy was shot to death in Dallas, Texas. Quickly, new President Lyndon Johnson, FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover and acting Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach agreed that "the public must be convinced that Lee Harvey Oswald was the assassin." [1] They supported the creation of what became known as the Warren Commission to investigate the assassination of the assassination.

    The Warren Commission, as its leading piece of evidence against Oswald, pointed to a rifle that Oswald apparently owned which was found near the crime scene with three spent shells. They also claimed a witness saw Oswald at the sixth floor, the area from which he allegedly shot the president.

    However, facts from other sources indicate that the fingerprints on the rifle are unclear, nitrate tests as to whether he fired a rifle were negative, Oswald identified two people present at the 2nd floor of the building close to the time of the shooting and credible eyewitnesses saw two people (neither LHO) at the crime scene on the 6th floor. Furthermore, Oswald lacked sufficient time to go from the 6th floor to the 2nd floor where a police officer ran into him. The re-enactments the Warren Commission ran did not take several factors into consideration, such as the length of time for the assassin to go the length of the room to hide the rifle.

    The balance of the evidence overwhelmingly favors the conclusion that Oswald did not shoot President Kennedy. The Commission ignored the gun and fingerprint tests, falsely stated that he ate lunch on the 6th floor right before the shooting and relied on a discredited witness as to the Oswald/6th floor identification.

    In other words, it lied. President Johnson hinted at his reason for lying when he asked Chief Justice of the United States Earl Warren to serve as the chair of the commission. The new president told Warren that there were reports that if no commission acted, people would conclude that Cuba was responsible and that this opinion would trigger a nuclear war with Cuba ally the Soviet Union. But this reason falters under logic. Why would Fidel Castro order anyone to kill the president knowing that the U.S. public would clamor for retaliation if given proof?

    If Oswald didn't do it and Cuba didn't do it, then who did? Given that the government lied about it makes its own involvement obvious. So does the fact that the government had control over the Secret Service, which failed to protect the president according to its rules (windows were left open over the motorcade, for example) and the fact that the government had the power to change the parade route. Exactly who in the government acted to assassinate JFK goes beyond the scope of this article, but its reasons for lying and thus falsifying history became clear a few years later.

    Robert Kennedy died in Los Angeles of a bullet wound to the head while running for president in 1968. The Los Angeles Police Department, the media and Los Angeles Mayor Sam Yorty soon declared that Sirhan Sirhan had killed RFK. After all, several people saw him shoot a gun and some wrestled him to the ground. The mayor added that a police search of his home turned up diary entries in Sirhan's handwriting that read "RFK Must Die!"

    But, as with Oswald, there were other facts that suggested Sirhan's innocence. For one, all eyewitnesses reported that Sirhan was on Kennedy's left. This fact is important since County Coroner Thomas Naguchi confirmed that the fatal shot struck RFK behind his RIGHT ear. Furthermore, no eyewitness places Sirhan within 1 1/2 feet of Kennedy, who was shot four times at point-blank range on the right side of his body.

    This last fact gains special significance when combined with eyewitness reports. Maitre d' Karl Uecker says he grabbed Sirhan after two shots, then pushed him against the steam table where Sirhan emptied his gun. [2] Several other eyewitnesses second his account, which precludes Sirhan from shooting RFK four times.

    Then there is the gun. Bodyguard Rafer Johnson, a gold medalist in the Olympic track and field decathlon, said that he grabbed the gun from Sirhan's hand after the shooting, took it home and wrote down the serial number H-53725. Strangely, the official reports show that the gun used for firing tests was H-18602. [3] The difference in the guns used in the crime and the firing tests proves conclusively that Sirhan's gun did not fire any of the bullets recovered.

    There was a trial, but it was anti-climactic. The defense attorney, Gary Cooper, stipulated that Sirhan had acted alone. Thirty-eight years later, still in prison, Sirhan cannot remember the incident. The idea that he may have been hypnotized to forget it all cannot be ruled out.

    Once again, the government had the facts that showed innocence, but pronounced guilt on someone who did not commit the crime. Over the years, the LAPD has stuck with its story of Sirhan acting alone and the media has played along with it, steering the public away from the C-word, conspiracy.

    Do you still believe that "lone nuts" are depriving us of our leaders and changing world history?

    Consider that another "lone nut," Arthur Bremer, allegedly shot George Wallace, a candidate for president. The FBI amazingly was at his apartment soon afterwards, looking to find any dirt on other presidential candidates that President Nixon could blame. [4]

    Think about the 1980 presidential election in which Ronald Reagan won. The Iranians who held U.S. hostages approached independent candidate John Anderson to propose a deal to release hostages for weapons. Anderson's team refused the deal and reported it to President Carter. Reagan's campaign never reported any Iranian contacts, even though he had an opportunity to carry out the deal. Strangely, the Reagan Administration sold weapons to the same Iranians later to secure the release of different hostages. President Carter's failure to bring the hostages home (perhaps because of a deal by the Reagan supporters to delay the hostage release) was one of the leading factors for his loss.

    The list goes on. It should be clear that our leaders do not trust us enough to tell us the truth.

    This corruption serves as a context for the nation that we now live in. We don't really choose our leaders. We certainly didn't choose George W. Bush either time. In turn, we get policies that only leaders assured of re-election could get away with, like the war in Iraq and the warrantless wiretapping by the National Security Agency.

    There are no easy solutions to the problem of corruption in high places. Peaceful solutions like voting sound good but lack effectiveness in close elections thanks to vote theft. We need to spread the word that our leaders have stolen our nation from us. When enough people hear and understand the truth, we will find an ethical way to take back the United States of America.

    I think every country has something they don't want people to know.
    For example, the turks did NOT admit to the Armenian Genocide, when most of the History teacher in America teaches it as the Armenian Genocide.
    In turkey, They even ban talking about the genocide.

    History=Lies?

    I'm pretty sure that there are MANY lies, and we'll never get to know the truth, cause the people who knew the truth are now dead or just too old and our society says that they are lunatics.

    History is written by the winners, and sometimes the winners try to make themselves look good.

    lol what is this from 1984 or something? Doublethink ftw! I guess the winners do make history, since the losers might not be around to compromise it,

    Yeah, if you killed a whole group of people and said you didn't, they wouldn't really be able to come back and prove it.

    Of course our government is corrupt anyone can see it. Just like 9/11 it wasn't osama bin laden it was george w. bush. If it was osama then the us would actually make a big deal about looking for him instead they go after sadam hussein.

    History=Lies?

    this is why you go to college, when your new teachers tell you all of the bullshit the old teachers taught you is completely that, and useless, and you get pissed off and become an adult, drudging from day to day working and saying fuck the world, its really anoying when everything you think you know comes back to be a false reality when in truth, the government controls you, you are not free, your just less constricted then the rest, give up, quit, you cant change it. The acual president didnt win elections, he is a figure head and the country is ran by people who we know nothing of, people who to us, do not exist, which is why he has won 2 races.... Your votes mean nothing, and your opinion means nothing, you cannot pick what you wear or anything, its all inplanted by tv and the government when you are born, i know it seems like im being a bit irrational, but the above is more then likely true

    Reasoning:

    Your life is planned out for you, have you ever figured that? Unless your of a select group of people, who the government believes to be a failure, and decide your fate, you may see yourself as sucessful, but have you ever thought. "other people have it so much fucking easier". I have personally, and i know its sort of anoying to see a random person, who doesnt need to do shit, to suceed in life, and your just a little like BLEH >.>. well your right, the world/society you live in is a fucking lie, and its really bad, but you wont make it if they dont want you to.
