    Idea to prevent scamming: Use Skype instead of MSN

    Using Skype instead of MSN would make the market a much safer place. Here's a couple of reasons why.

    ::No MiddleMan Impersonators::
    When you are in a skype text chat with someone who is MMing for you, you can easily see whether or not they are the real person (As in: Not hacked) by giving them a quick ring and listening to their voice. Sample voices of MM's would be posted in their thread, or the Official MM thread.

    ::Less Exploits::
    As Skype is a relatively less popular software application than MSN messenger, there are less exploits out for it. For example, you can currently use a program that makes an AFK person on MSN look like they are talking.

    ::No Point In Hacking::
    There's no point in hacking someone's Skype account to scam. After all, if they require voice verification, it would be VERY hard to pull of someone's genuine voice.

    ::No Account Freezing::
    With all of those script kiddies going around freezing people they don't like, it's hard to actively participate in the market without getting frozen at some point. With Skype, this won't happen.

    ::Looks Better::
    Skype is a much cleaner interface than MSN, and is also easier to use. It's very easy on the eyes.

    ::Hard to Fake::
    It's hard to fake the Skype account you're talking with or calling from. With MSN, you could change your status to the email address of the person you were impersonating. With Skype, you can't do this.

    What do you guys think of this change? Comments, criticism?

    No, this was not meant for the site suggestions area, so don't move it.

    EDIT: You wouldn't have to use your voice the ENTIRE time, just for the verification part of the trade. The rest of the time you can talk via skype's IM. The verification call can be recorded with software such as Pamela Call Recorder- that way NO ONE can have an "I was hacked" excuse for scamming.

    It probably would be good but some people dont have mics and also dont want to give away their voice. But still some people can still use it.

    If a middleman wants to help prevent scamming, they'd have to deal with it.

    good idea, but it would be hard to get the whole community to switch... and yea, i have a mic, it was like $15... seriously, just go buy one. I don't play runescape or do trades so it doesn't really bother me but good luck :).
