Overwatch Discussion

Apparently Overwatch was fairly popular in Korea / Asia, which historically hasn't been interested in FPS's.

 

i really got addicted to this game, already miss it and cant wait till the official release! its quite simple and fun.

 

I was cheap as hell and went with the $40 version. I was definitely on the edge about the game but I think they really hit it out of the park when I was playing it on the beta.

 

Played the open beta constantly while it was out.

I really like the idea, graphics, experience. The game on the surface is casual and fast paced, yet there room to grow as a player.

I ended up ordering the $60 version, because Diablo 3 wings.

There are some issues for sure. Lack of game modes, some balancing issues, some queuing issues, etc.

But I'm still excited to continue playing after the full release.

 

Like you said, it gave me a tf2 feel sort of, except it had a more futuristic vibe to it.
It's like a mix of multiple genres imo.

 

9.7 Million players during the open Beta, totaling 81 million hours of playtime. Averaging out to be ~8 hours per person over the span of just a few days.

This is starting to look like it's going to really take off, I think Blizz really outdid themselves on this game.

Waiting for launch is painful.

I wish they left the beta rolling and patched late at night or something.

 

Pretty neat infographic they just released. Really excited for this to come out in a few days.

 

I'm pumped for this to come out later today. I think with voice-comms, the competitive scene in this game could be quite fun as well. Excited to see where this game goes 6 months from now.

This game is so fun -.- been playing almmost non stop

 

I got a bit more sucked into the beta than I did on release, but I can't deny that this game is a ton of fun. Regardless of winning or losing, the game itself is just a great time. Blizz really did a great job on that, I haven't really ever felt "frustrated" because good solo play can carry a team. At the same time,the balancing is so great that I don't ever feel like a team is "unbeatable" or "OP" because everything has clear, well defined counters.

 

I agree'd with everything you said their, also i think every character is unique and none are boring to play , I may be better with certain heroes and may like playing some better than others but i dont believe any hero is boring. my current favorite hero is zenyatta.

 

I was talking to a friend about that the other day. I think there are clearly better characters for certain situations, but you can pretty much make any character work on offence / defense if you know what you are doing.

 

Love this game and the different methods you can play and win with different characters, guess thats why I like DOTA 2 as well great shooter though!

 

For such a popular game (with over 7 million players already), I'm surprised there's not a dedicated section for the game yet (even if it's just got discussions)

Watched a friend play it in beta and thought it would be too similar to TF2, however I've come to enjoy the uniqueness of the game

It's a similar style of game but past there being different classes and team based objectives it really doesn't feel like TF2 at all.

 

Aside from the incredibly fun game play, one of the things that impresses me the most is how optimized Overwatch is across a huge range of system specs. My gaming desktop (4790k + 980ti) plays the game flawlessly, which I expected, but I was really shocked when I tried playing on my little Zenbook (i5-5200u, integrated graphics) and it played like butter, albeit at a smaller resolution.

 

One thing that has boggled my mind is the lack of microphones on this game. i play on the pc and i chat all the time but come across very few people that actually respond.
