Money vs. Speed - The great dilemma =(

Hi guys, I need a few tips from you that may influence my smithing and smelting choices regarding steel bars and cannonballs.

Currently I have 12.5K (12589 to be exact) steel bars as a result of several of weeks of boredom and anticipation for members (will subscribe very soon). Of course, everyone knows the profit to be made when smelting the bars into 4 cannonballs each and selling these for 200gp each.

However I hear from many sites/people that smelting steel bars into cannonballs is extremely slow and boring to do. If I sell 12589 steel bars I will approximately get 7.55mil - 8.18mil (depending on how the merchanting gods feel on that day). If I smelt into cannonballs I get 10.07mil.

Should I smelt all the bars into cballs or should I just sell the steel bars and then prawn newbs at CW? I don't know how long it takes per load to smelt bars into cannonballs so I am hoping somebody can advise me on this. Is it as fast as the speed of smelting ores into bars or is it considerably slower? How many hours would it take for me to smelt 12.5K bars into cannonballs?

Id say to smelt it because you get money and exp. Smelting is an alright skill since you can watch tv at the same time. Just a few clicks then wait, etc.

Well, could anyone please advise me on how much cannonballs I can smith per hour? Or how long every 1K steel bars being smelted would take?

 

hehe i think he wanted everyone to say forget the balls but i would say smelt as many as u can

 

If you already have the bars I would just sell. Once you become a member with 7m there are much easier ways to earn 3m that this.

 

Hmm you're very right. I hear buying bronze arrows from Varrock archery store then reselling to players is good, fast, easy money?

And can anyone still please tell me how many cannonballs can be made every hour of smelting?

 

Using the port phymus one (You'll need to do a quest Preist in Peril and the one to get a cannon ball mold) and have 2 ghost tokens to enter I belve it is the same speed as making your bars in alkarad.

Spend your money towards farming or something. I would theive all your seeds for a little only buying rannars once you can get to them. Once being able to plant rannars you can make an extra 60-100k profit an hour on top of doing something else. All you do is plant rannars and leave them for 70 minutes.

 

Your in-depth reply is appreciated. I am leaning towards jsut selling the steel bars since I now have 14.5k bars =_=.

My farming however is at 1 and I'd much rather sit in a store and bulk buy arrows then do something that requires a little bit of concetration.

Any other advice?

Well I wouldn't know, I don't cheat at Runescape.

Which is pretty contradictory due to the fact I'm posting on a cheating site -.-

But I may consider auto-smelt, any links you guys may have ?

 

Or you can just get noobs to do the cannon ball making for you "free smithing exp" then you can get all those done in a day, saves you time and you make a profit. My friend got workers to make cannon balls for him and he made enough to buy a red phat.

id say do it, im getting 28m exp in crafting, and im making no profit, im loosing money, id rather be in the top 10(i checked, it wud get me up there)
than get 15m off it. itll take a little less than a month(from 55 to in the 90's)
and will cost me 120k(this is my biggest problem, im muted, so i can't merchant anymore lol). after this im getting 50k cowhides and 3-4k steel bars. plus the 3 coin fee for all of them witch is 150k

i did all tht to say, go do what ever u want to do; id personaly do the c balls just for the exp lol.
