    Gold shops & Paypal

Not sure if this is the correct section but I doubt that matters.

Currently a Uni student and always on the look for money, have a few questions about gold shops.
So, I believe we all know that it isn't very hard to commit fraud on PayPal, yet it is still very risky to do so. I expect that the procedure of making buyers show ID heavily minimalizes the risk of a possible chargeback.

My questions for all you gold shop owners are: 1. How often do you find yourself dealing with chargebacks?
    2. How many of these chargebacks do you find yourself winning,
    3. Do your websites have anti fraud systems? If so, what role do they have against chargebacks?

I appreciate all replies, thanks for your time.

Hey, don't currently have a gold shop, I used to have a small one and know a few people with them.

    1. Depends on who you deal with. If you accept anyone, you'll get a fair amount, but if you're careful about who you deal with, either by only taking paypal from trusted people or taking large amounts of precautions, the amount of chargebacks go way down.

    2. I personally won 3 and lost 1 charge back, can't speak for the bigger companies, I'd guess that they lose a lot more due to not really caring as much.

Then don't make a gold shop unless you have experience and a decent amount of start up capital, and even then it'd be risky. Get a part time job when you have time, you'll get a lot more money than this.

And yea I do have a part-time job, I try to work as much OT as possible but sometimes I can't. Sythe would be a great side business.
