Ok I have seen lately that we have been having a lot of arguments, (which is good). So I decided, why not have a little debate tournament or something. shredderbeam2 and I will judge it ( you can apply to be a judge if you want). Anyway, this is how things will go:

• I will first make a bracket when we get 5-10 people to do it. It will also have times when we do it. You will also be told what side your on.
• I will then post a thread saying "Round 1" for example.
• You will then post your thoughts and proof/ why you think that.
• Then the other side disagrees and says why.
• We repeat this for 3 times for each side.
• I will then say the winner.

Then whoever is the best winner at the end will get bragging rights for that topic, and get to put that in your sig.

The main purpose of this debate is to see who is the best in one topic, and to see if you can argue each side.

 

This idea is 1337, and has my support.

As I am unbelievably busy with IRL stuff, paintplaye can be the organizer/rule-setter.

However, once the debate has started (paint can announce it in huge yellow letters, or something...), I will be deleting the posts of anyone who are not part of the debate teams, paint, or myself.

As has been said, this needs to remain friendly, you cannot belittle others ideas, and paint and I shall judge the winner.

As of now, I'm not sure as to the rules, I don't know if there will be a series of questions and answers, but all this will be figured out beforehand.

Yeah, the judges will be paint and I. He is religious to some degree, and I'm an Atheist.

I will not base my judgments on my personal beliefs, but solely on the performance of the debators.

I don't think that there would be a fee for the first one. I suppose if they get popular, I might contribute prize money for the winner, but that would be in the future.

Ok. I am on a debate team for my school, I have debated and judged many many topics that go against my beliefs, but I don't let that get in my way. I know how it feels when a judge screws you over because he/she does not like your view on the subject. Don't worry, that won't be a problem

Yes i will take out the fee, just an idea if people wanted it, but i see people don't Anyway, if that is a problem we could use this resouloution instead:

Resolved: The United Nations' obligation to protect global human rights ought to be valued above its obligation to respect national sovereignty.
