Requiring ID to become verified

My suggestion is to require government issued ID scan on top of phone and paypal verification.

Reasons why:
1. Since it's significantly easier to become verified on sythe I don't value SVU as much compared to verified ranks on other forums. For example if a newcomer added me on skype to buy gold via paypal I would refuse to trade with them. If they were sythe verified it would only make me more suspicious that they will scam me. Personally I feel safer when trading verified users on other forums (epicnpc/ownedcore)

2. Newcomers might trust someone solely because they're sythe verified and get scammed.

What if you want to become SVU but don't meet the age requirement to get government issued ID?

eg 16 for drivers license, what if you're 15

 

I think age is the only issue you're going to run into with this. Otherwise I support.

 

A passport is available to everyone, doesn't matter how old you are.

 

This idea was shot down previously because who would verify the IDs? Who would store the IDs and where? It poses a security risk to store those.

 

Okay now let's say someone is 12 or 13 years old. They're going to go ask their parents to get them a passport so they can be verified on an online forum? That is bound to cause issues.

This is just looking for flaws on a microscopical level. Nobody that's 12 or 13 year old is going to invest into a 25$+5$ rank, nor would they even be able to make a PP..

 

Why not? I bet guarantee there's multiple SVU's under 18 with a PP

 

I am not really trying to. Honestly I support the suggestion but if you're going to make a decision like that I think every angle has to be looked at. People underage make Paypal accounts regularly. I am over the age of 18 so it doesn't make a difference to me.

 

Under 18? Yes ofcourse. But not 12-13 year old. Lmfao.

Underage people are easily able to get their hands on some form of ID, in most countries in Europe you have to be able to identificate yourself at all time from the age of 15.

 

Ultimately like I said before it has my support but I feel like that will be the biggest issue. I will leave it at that unless anymore questions are directed at me.

 

I've collected 120+ vouches and sold ~$5-6k worth of accounts/gold/etc before eventually becoming verified which is proof that you don't have to verify your account to run a successful business on sythe.

However my point is that it should mean something to become verified. By requiring ID it makes it harder to become verified which in turn would make people feel safer when trading a verified user.

 

Did everyone just skip over Dunworry's post? Come up with a solution to this and you have my support.

I understand why it was shot down. That is a lot of personal information to be trusted with over the internet especially for a forum. If the person whom was trusted with it (assuming would be an admin) got hacked or anything like that everyone has their personal information all over the internet. Is there some sort of secure database it could be stored in within the websites servers?

 

Not only that, but I'm not sure Sythe/Matthew want to take that route. Next time Matthew has free time and I see him, I'll bring it up and see what he says. I had a suggestion to change it to a minirank/change the name/remove it, but I haven't yet been able to talk to him about it
