Do games like GTA and CS..

Do you think they affect peoples mental state? I played all the grand theft autos for about 3 days straight when they first came out, and the next day i never felt like getting a hoe, screwing her in a stolen truck, killing her taking my money back, steal a tank and get some homies and raid on other gangs territories then get the army after me and die. SO HOW ABOUT YOU?

 

Grand Theft Auto and Counterstrike are my 2 top favorite games, heh, what a coincidence... But no, I dont think they have changed me, I mean cmon, its a game, like a movie, all fake. Yes, some phreeks may be playing so much of those games that it could click and they would go start shooting shit up. Like that guy at Virginia Tech, he shot and killed 32 people, but he had mental problems also... So yes, I think some people they can change, but for me, video games is jst an activity I do when I am bored at home or its raining outside or whatever...

 

I believe that it is not the games that change the people, but how the peolple can inturprute the games and how they react to them, some people do not have the mental stability to beable to play those games, some people belive everything they are told, and others are just unexplainable. Its up to the player of the game to control what they do, and then the game developer was just supose to make a good game that people would like.

Heh, yeah. Its funny how nerds come here to Sythe and just start spamming up the forums to get a high post count and look cool, when they have no friends at all, and like most do, get the post count up then scam a dumb runescape item and get banned...

 

Im not spamming atleast.. And being online at sythe.org while doing other stuff with my computer doesnt make me lose friends (or well, not yet atleast.)...

Games dont really effect me (i think, but i cant go back in time to check this).. Or i havent had any thoughts about killing people atleast.

If video games affect your mental state then you probably aren't very mentally sound to begin with.

 

These games would only meddle with somebody's mental state if they already had a mental problem to begin with. One such obvious problem is ADD.

 

No i don't think so. I would say that movies and music clips have more effect on people then games.

we talked about this a while ago in my psychology class and research shows that people that play games like that are more likely to commit a violent crime.
but i don't think thats true. i just think that people that like to play game slike gta and cs are the people that are more likely to commit violent crimes in the first place. same thing with watching violent movies. i watch violent movies and play violent games, but i've never felt like doing something i did in a game.

 

Yea and games do effect your state of mind. When i play tony hawks i feel like going out and skating.....I don't even have a skateboard. So it does do something...

 

Same here. I have beat Tony Hawk 1-underground 2 and everytime I play I wanna skate in real life.

Anyways, the GTA games never effected me, they gave me something to do when I was bored. Its just a game, nothing else.

 

i dont think it effects your mental way of life

 

It has been proven that people with lower'ish' IQ's are easily persuaded...So obviously people believe that in the world (Not necessarily their town) life is like GTA. Some go out, and think, I'll just pop-up at the cop station with $500 less dollars.

As you can see, some people aren't as smart as we think and don't use their common sense.

 

these types of people are weak minded people , and there parents should know this and should not allow them to play the games , there are fun games that dont have violence in them , although i prefer them more.

i agree with you , but add would not effect this, all add does is prevent people to concentrate well. i slightly have add , as i can not concentrate on anything if there is a lot of different noise's or a lot going on etc.

as i said before. only weak minded people would fall into this , and music clips dont have too awful much bad things in it like this (for the exception of rap) but is more about the lyrics of the songs , a lot of songs talk about killing people. doing drugs robbing people in almost all genre's

yes statistics show this , but i mean cmon 90% of the kids adults etc. they find have already been in trouble , if they went to random schools and asked , it would be a different outcome , not to mention as most "phsycholigest's "(sp?) dont know what they are talking about half the time . you cant understand something until you have been in its shoes , and going to school and a degree is not doing that.

well this is just because , you see this and say hmm i wish i could do that , and you see people on tv doing it all the time for real so you know its possible , but now killing and getting away with it like on cs and gta isnt the same like you see in the real life , average\strong minded people understand that there are consiquences to actions etc.

 

When you hear parents, talking about their sons or daughts doing bad things or things people wouldnt ordinarly (dont know if I spelled it right) do. They blame video games... Video games are just an escuse for parents with wack job kids who do stupid things


So NO.. I dont think these games give us bad idea's. I Think they surpress them, because of us playing the games we will not feel the need to do it in real life

 

I think these Video-Games should be excluded. I've heard many people are mimicing what they do.. Especially Teen's.
