Should mentaly disabled people be treated as equal?

i have a friend at school that is disabled and no one makes fun of him or treats him differently he is treated normal like everyone else outside and inside the campus.

 

So is he disabled or mentally disabled?
Disabled people should be treated equally, yes.
Mentally - idk, I would say yes, but just be careful what u say so u don't upset them or whatever.

 

They should be treated, "Specially".

yes they should because they had no choice towards this and sometimes they can suprise people with what they do

well, they can't be treated equally because they're not equall. their mental capacities is that of a little kid. they have the mental age of a 7 year old. you wouldn't treat a little 7 year old kid as your equal would you? you're smarter and better than them.
but then again, there are different degrees of mental retardation.

No they shouldn't.... They do not have the same mental capactiy or physical capacity as normal people.. they cannot perform certain actions as adequately as we can... they cannot match up to us.. not saying that they have to be able to like be able to lift 200 lbs or take a really hard test but they have to take some sort of test to be considered as equal.. or to have the same opportunities and such as us....... (non mentally disabeled folk)...

 

"Equal" isn't a noun. It's an opinion. I could think a 160 IQ person is equal, while someone else thinks a 100 IQ person is equal.

 

they are = in the sense that they should be treated = they have emotions aswell, and that if they do a crime etc. they should be punish'd but there should be something different then prision for the simple fact that they would be easilly manipulated there .

 

For anyone who mistreats the mentally/physically disabled, don't let me see you.
I will personally beat the living shit out of you, make you a vegetable, so you would know how it would feel like.

i won't mistreat someone thats mentally disabled, but i won't treat them like they're my equal either. they can't do anything for the society, i don't even see the point of wasting money and food on them.

 

They are human beings. One would hope that the less fortunate would be treated well.

 

Thats a harsh way to look at it..

 

no one wished them to be retarded or wants them that way, but they are, and theres nothing you can do about it. so why waste materials that can be used on another human thats capable of helping societing on one that isn't?

 

So resources should only be used in helping those that help society?

I guess we should forget about the homeless, the hundreds of thousands dying in Darfur, the 10,000 that starve to death every day, and anyone who has been hospitalized.

What a great society that would be.
