Money Back from PayPal

So a month ago I tried to buy an account for $170. At first everything seemed okay but something came off as fishy when I noticed the membership was still on a monthly billing cycle. Within two days, the account was recovered. I tried contacting him through Skype again, but to no avail. He ignored me for 3 days and then I decided to open a dispute on PayPal. After a whole month, he still hasn't responded on Skype and changed his name.

After a month of contacting PayPal, they DENIED my claim and would not give me a refund.

Does anyone know what I should do here?

Hey man, best you can do is contact the PayPal live support. Tell them the situation and try to open another dispute, get skype logs etc, any form of proof that you actually paid for the account.

Your chances are low however, as you are not protected for buying virtual goods. Good luck getting your money back.

 

Give them a call I recommend. Try to get it re-opened and explain your situation. Contacting them usually yields the best results, as their "resolution center" is atrocious

how are you going to explain you bought a runescape account? how do they know you didn't already get it since its virtual

 

Was the money sent from your paypal coming from your paypal balance or from your credit card or bank? If it came from your paypal balance, then you're pretty much screwed if the case had already been closed. If it came from your credit card/bank, give them a call directly and explain you were scammed out of what you bought and that the case on paypal was closed because they don't support virtual transactions for personal payments.

 

A few months ago I had bought a custom chef knife from japan (was around 415 euros (52k Yen)) and after waiting a month and a half i opened a chargeback. The seller gave me fake shipping (proof) and I closed the chargeback, and after another month nothing arrived. I couldn't open another paypal dispute and called paypal via phone and they re-opened the 1 month old chargeback dispute and refunded me.

I know one's a virtual account (your case) and mine was a legitimate object (my case) and quite honestly I don't understand so much about paypal as other users like ghast posted above/dunworry etc but If you've never tried to call them it's worth a shot. You don't have anything to loose via doing so.

 

Didn't know Paypal got so strict. Thought it was still chargeback paradise.

I gave them a call and unfortunately they stated that the item WAS DELIVERED. And that there is no agreement on the duration so he gets to keep my $170. So yeah, I'm pretty pissed. Literally he just gave the account for two days so he could have screen shots of the delivery. Then recovered it and even though I provided screen shots of his name being on the hiscores and earning 1 bil exp this month, they won't give me a refund. Seriously, this is asinine.

 

Man, always have then accept a TOS that YOU setup, statingn that the account would've been yours forever.

Really sad about your loss, if i were you i would report the account to JaGex, with all proof. It'll get the account banned . That's what i do to people who either chargeback or recover.

 

How do I report to Jagex? And wouldn't that get my own account banned since I tried to purchase it?

 

Don't mention your own account + use a VPN when contacting, email them

 

I already played on his account on my IP, so I'd imagine that it'd be very easy for them to trace it all back to me. Would this not be the case?

 

Selling your account won't lead to an IP-Ban, so just the acc will be banned, you'll still be able to make a new RS acc.

 

So only his account will be banned and not any of mine? Or are you saying that my current account will be banned along with his and I would have to make a new one?
