    Intelligent Design.
But from the looks of people (especially around here) I'd say semi-intelligent design. ;)

So, why do you believe in Intelligent Design, especially since new discoveries in the areas of Self-Organization and Chaos Theory validly explain the complexity of life?

Congratulations to those who said "Evolution". You have proven yourselves at least semi-reasonable.

This isn't about who your savior is. This is about whether you can accept conclusive evidence that supports evolution, or whether you still believe in a millennia-old book.

WTF? Because they in no way disprove Intelligent Design... :/
That's like trying to disprove a creator by using it's creations as proof. You're funny.
    Wow... how delightfully nescient.
I used to believe in evolution (even fought for it in old threads here). But I did much more research and found many inconsistencies and illogical ideas. So I honestly don't see how believing in a supernatural being you cannot see is any less "mind critical" than believing in such a blatantly unproven theory. Both are in the same category really. So you can either just pick and choose which you want to believe (flip a coin or something)... or you can attempt to consult with someone bigger than you are. ;)

You can't use a WIKI as a reference for a debate.

inteligent design. the chances of everything you see evolving from a big bang are like 1 in a trillion or more. to me just seems logical to belive in inteligent design.

You just called your god semi-intelligent. If that's not blasphemy, I don't know what is.;)

Evolution is the answer. There are scientific findings that show how humans evolved from apes. Scientific findings > book.

    Evolution vs. Intelligent Design

They don't disprove Intelligent Design, but they do give excellent explanations as to how life could become so complex WITHOUT the presence of an intelligent creator.

    I'm funny? Right. Thanks.

Please, do not call someone ignorant before you truly understand them. Many people have done so to me, and eaten their words not long after.

What inconsistencies and illogical ideas did you find?

In the same category? Au contraire, evolution was arrived at by using the scientific method, Intelligent Design is not. That alone sets them far apart.

I use it as a starting point for those who have no idea what either of them are. If they want to learn more, they can check out the references and do their own research. My goal is to provide some sort of basic background so your average joe viewing this thread will have some idea what is being said.

Life tries to survive. Thus, the odds are not exactly random.

Life as we know it would be impossible if the Earth were but a tiny bit farther away from the sun, true enough. Then again, life as we know it. Life is highly resilient, survives the toughest challenges, and rises again. If the conditions were vastly different, there would still be life.

    A quote to remember. :)

Hah, figured someone would say that. Just a play on words.
True. But you apparently know very little about religion and/or Intelligent design (implying that it's just a book). So your opinion is meaningless.

    Evolution.

Intelligent Design basically means a higher being creator. God and what not. That I do not believe in.

Evolution. There is no proof whatsoever of there being a higher power. Theres the facts "well without (insert supernatural force) we couldn't live". But this has been said about various things, astrology, witches, dragons, urban tales, etc. It just takes time for science to expand, as for the evolution debate, yes evolution, people who don't believe in evolution are strange, god/no-god maybe, but evolution is sure-fire.
