If you're thinking about shopping off of amazon.com...

Shop on smile.amazon.com instead!

If you are unfamiliar with this, It is basically the same thing as amazon.com except amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of eligible items to a charity of your choice. You may have heard about this, and it may not seem like much, but if you think about it...

If there are 100 regular amazon shoppers on sythe that start using this...
Let's say that they spend on average $50 on eligible items throughout the year.
$50*0.005= $0.25 per person/year
$0.25*100= $25.00 towards charity.

This $25 if donated towards a charity such as Charity: Water can make a major difference in the lives of people in other countries who don't have access to clean water by building wells to provide it to communities and towns.

Cool to see they're participating in a good cause. I used to shop around Amazon a lot, but too bad I moved to another country where other sites are more prevalent and convenient.

I've actually never heard of this. What a wonderful idea. Like you say, doesn't seem like much on an individual basis, but in the big picture it can add up quickly.

In case anyone didn't know, many governments provide tax deductions for charity contributions/donations. Here's some guidelines for those in the US straight from the IRS website https://www.irs.gov/uac/eight-tips-for-deducting-charitable-contributions
