Friend lags when playing runescape?

Any help would be appreciated. The only thing I told her was that she needs to put her ram on dual channel sockets but that's all i could really think of.

Hardware specs seem more than adequate for Runescape or youtube. Should see how her internet is doing.

 

I can't see the picture but I had the exact same thing with my laptop, get her to clean her desktop/laptop inside out! Get any dust out or she may have a bit of hair interfering with something. I have a high end gaming laptop and even on low settings on RS I was getting 1-5 FPS - As soon as I put some pressured air in my fans, I was shooting up to 60 on ultra and staying there.

I tried a hole bunch of things because of the lag, I installed windows 10, which helped a little but nothing major like cleaning my laptop out.

 

Mate, I play RS on ultra with no problems on a shitty $300 laptop from Target. It'd either be hardware or software issues causing the problems. Dust in your computer or heat issues (which will only cause minor problems) will only do so much. Virus's can cause problems also. Internet can become a factor as well. Especially if you're lagging or buffering on YouTube or Twitch. I know, because I run my shitty hotspot from my phone is internet lel.

 

But that's what fixed the problem? I literally blew into my laptop for 2-3 minutes and the FPS issue was gone, completely.
I downloaded windows 10, I made sure my GPU was 100% running on NXT/RS, dust can cause SO many issues that people aren't aware of. It fixed my laptop 100%, I did nothing else except blow into my laptop (sounds crazy I know but it worked and fixed the FPS lag on my laptop) I made post on post on Reddit and nothing else fixed it except getting rid of the dust in my laptop.

 

That's more of an overheating issue, which in general can slow down hardware yes, I won't deny that. But unless you got 4lbs of dust in that bad boy, I highly doubt you went from 5 frames to 60 with a little *blow* in the ventilation area. Don't take my shitty humour as a nasty response, I'm merely finding what you wrote to be quite funny within myself.

Hard disk problems can be a factor as well. I know from personal experience with my grandmothers laptop. She could never understand that her laptop would become very laggy, unresponsive and sometimes utterly freeze for moments on end, and she only bought it months beforehand, only for me to find out with a little look at her process's on Task Manager that her HDD was hitting maximum 100% even on idle which was causing huge issues across the board, which in the end meant she had a faulty/dying hard drive.

Little problems like that, that you don't see but do huge amounts of damage across your PC.

 

It's not an Internet issue, it's not in game lag. Her computer starts to completely freeze for a second or two while multitasking. She can't play runescape and watch a YouTube video at the same time without her PC dropping frames

 

Check our Task Manager when she does this. Does her memory or hard drive hit maximum limit?

 

You don't seem to understand though, 2-3 minutes of blowing into my fan and my laptop has been running perfect ever since, I had the same problem as his friend, my youtube, twitch, VPS, skype, my whole laptop would freeze and have an extremely low frame rate. Not a heat issue either, my laptop is never too hot to touch.

@OP, get her to clean it, even if it doesn't help, it's worth the try.

 

Run Malwarebytes and CCleaner. They're both great programs to help determine a malware or clogging issue. Make sure her start-up programming are not over-flowing; she should only have a few programs activated during startup.

Her computer specs are not an issue; she needs to monitor her task manager and see if anything is spiking while she is running the game. If she is spiking to 100% during the lag, then we might narrow down the problem.
