[Boxing] Didn't Know Where To Put This [Physical Fitness]

Ok, I have 2 questions. I just need some general advice. I go to the gym 4 or 5 days a week depending on how busy I am with University. I do weights, cardio and then I hit the bags for a while. I was just wondering if there was any excerices or techinques that I could use to build more power in my punches. I know how to throw a punch properly, I just want to feel like the punch is producing some real power.

My second question is more concerning for me. I started training when I was around 16, but really got serious about it when I was 18/19. I'm 22 now. Ever since I started University (started when I was 19) I have been going on and off. So, I might have been getting like 1 to 3 months where I was going consistently and then the opposite (1 to 3 months of lazy training). When I was younger my bench press was at 100kg and I was able to do standing military presses at 60kg and I weighed 154 pounds. My strength has dropped so much since I was younger, I struggle on doing 40kg military presses and haven't been able to hit even 80kg on the bench in a long time. I don't know if I just used to train harder then or what.

My diet at the moment is nothing too impressive, although I have been avoiding takeaways and fizzy drinks. I try to get most of my carbs in before gym. I know that I can definitely better my diet.

MY QUESTION IS, WHAT CAN I DO TO GET BACK MY STRENGTHHHHH ???

Thank you for taking your time out to read this, no noobs please, I will know if a noob tries to give me advice lol.

EDIT: I AM RETARDED THERE IS A SPORTS SECTION UNDERNEATH THIS ONE, SOMEONE MOVE PLEASE LOL

    Edit: Thanks for moving

Get back into the gym , start off with some basic curls , bench pressing , and some basic cardio , lunges, burpees , some sauna , and a good diet and you'll have more strength than ever!

    Goodluck

I've always heard since Mike Tysons WBC WBA IBF championship rains, that his punch was one of the most lethal after listening to him explain his story countless times and the key behind his punch was him having a stronger lower body, that gave him the key to his knock out punch, I later read more into it and turns out Rocky Marciano also had heavy lower body training which also allowed him to deliver devastating power knock outs, its something to look into anyway.

Thanks for the reply Soil, I shall definitely be increasing the intensity of my leg workouts. I have recently incorporated some new leg workouts to my routine prior to your post, I think i;ll add in some more sets to squats and the leg press.

I absolutely agree, I have no clue how to punch with the skill and accuracy of a boxer. I have considered joining a boxing club but haven't found any decent local ones plus been busy with Uni.

I used to fight a lot when I was younger, outside of the gym. Hitting the bags definitely helped me to stay sharp and explosive in street fights, even though I wouldn't have the technique to throw punches like a boxer.

But yes I do need someone to correct me and help me with my technique.

I did boxing for 4 years, the best way to build power in your punches is to become more explosive as an athlete. The best way is to do explosive workouts while doing stamina building workouts, by explosive I mean a burst of your power and speed at the same time. The best way to build power in your punches and speed is through shadow boxing with like 2-3 lb dumbbells, the small ones.

It's always a good idea to start up with light weights, but make sure you have the sets and reps down based on how you'd like to have your build. If you're looking to bulk, do some heavier weights with sets of 12-10-8 with increased weight each time. For cutting, start with weights you consider heavy and decrease your weight while increasing your reps. I also enjoyed doing cardio before and after each lift; mainly half a mile before and after.

Supplements help a lot. I usually take glutamine right after I finish working out to feel less sore the next day. Just start off easy and work your way up; you won't get strong overnight.

I know dude I have been training for a while :) Was just wondering if there is anything specifically for muscular endurance. I always seem to burn out so quick during sets.

I know what you mean, and less weight more reps is what I did; seems like you're burning out because the weight may be too high for the sets you are doing.

[Boxing] Didn't Know Where To Put This [Physical Fitness]

Ok so I missed a day this week due to my final Uni exam. So, today I decided to do legs and a bit of back. This is something I haven't done in years (since I used to train as a teenager). I hit legs pretty hard, in fact I was doing 5 sets on everything from mid range to heavy weights.

I then started on back and I felt so strong. I went heavier on every exercise and haven't gone that heavy in years. Damn, It was an awesome feeling lol. Can anyone explain what happened here? Didn't change anything in my diet today either.

You've given your muscles and joints enough time to heal.
