Web browser tutorial

i can give a small simple we browser tutorial for the noobs like me

first create a windows form

then put a panel in click it once and in the bottom left are the properties
find "Dock" in them and set it to top by clicking on the dock property and pressing the small arrow click the button thats on the top

now your panel should be on the top of the form
now you add Seven buttons
#1 Back
#2 Forward
#3 Refresh
#4 Cancel
#5 Home
#6 Go!
#7 Go!

add a combobox and to the right of the combobox put one of your Go! buttons

go to your toolbox if you can't see it press view then toolbox
on the toolbox look for the button at the top that looks like a pin

there click all window forms scroll down to the bottom you see somthing called "WebBrowser" put that below your panel and once again go to properties box "Dock" and set it to the middle button (the biggest one)

double click the Go! button beside your combobox and add this code:

WebBrowser1.Navigate(ComboBox1.Text)

that controls your webbrowser so it shows the webpage that you type in on your combobx

make sure all of your 6 more buttons are in the panel the farthest to the left should be back then forward then refresh then cancel then home (as for you other go button place that beside your first 1)

double click the back button and add this code:

WebBrowser1.GoBack

beside it there will appear to brackets "()" do nothing with these

go back and double click your forward and add this code:

webrowser1.goforward

once again beside it there will appear to brackets "()" and once again do nothing with these

go back and double click your refresh button and add this code:

webrowser1.refresh

go back and double click your cancel button and add this code:
webbrowser1.stop
do nothing with the brackets

go back and double click your home button and add this code:

now for your second Go! button put it the farthest to the "Right"
beside it to the left put a text box
double click the Go! button and add this code

thats the end of my tutorial to make your buttons look better make them picture boxes and create some great pics using axialis iconworkshop get this a tucows.com and make them apear as buttons by clicking once on them going to the properties box finding cursor changing it to hane and then when your mouse hovers over it it will look like a hand.

how to make a picture look like it's been clicked..

step #1 make your basic internet using pictures for buttons just double click the pictures and add the goback,forward junk make a second back button that seemes to be pushed in put it above your other back button and in the properties select the visible and change it to hide

Step #2 add a timer component on the properties enabled should = true and interval at 300

Step #3 double click the timer component and add this code

Step #4 Double click your second back button and add this

Step #5 while still in the code editor find the one that also has WebBrowser.GoBack in it

now try it when it's clicked it will show your second image for .3 seconds to change this go to your timer1 properties and change interval to whatever 1000=1 second

how to change search bars with the click of a button

step#1 ok you have your program with all of your buttons and stuff make 3 more buttons (unless you don't have a google search bar if you don't then add 4 buttons) put text as Ask Search, MSN Search, Yahoo Search and for those who don't have a google search bar in their browser, Google Search.

Step#2 now add 3 textboxes 4 if you don't have google search bar, 3 labels and 4 if you don't have a google search bar.

Step#3 name each text box... google1 , msn1 , yahoo1 , ask1 and each label the same way but with a 2 instead of 1 and the buttons too with a 3

Step#4 put a menu toolbar in and click on it where it says type put in Search Bars beneath it put Google, Ask Jeeves, Msn ,
and Yahoo

step#5 now double click your yahoo in the menu and put this code in:

         yahoo1.BringToFront()
         google2.Hide()
         yahoo2.BringToFront()
         yahoo2.Show()
         ask2.Hide()
         msn2.Hide()
if you did that correctly that will make it so when you click that all of the othe buttons labels and textboxes go to the back then dissapear all except yahoo

Step#6 double click your google button in the menu and put this:

i'll suggest not to use the webbrowser control that comes with vs2005

here is one Webbrowser wrapper control 100% 2.0 .net that works fantastic
