How to Reduce Lag in Runescape F2P Servers While In-Game Playing

Heres how to reduce lag in runescape while on F2P servers not on members.

Important Information:
An interesting fact I've picked it from reading through countless articles from the new Runescape Knowledge Base Home is that you should never run programs that deliberately block or hide the adverts which appear above the free version of runescape. It is againts runescape rule # 15 Advert Blocking.

Offensive Adverts:
If you see an offensive advert you should report it under the question mark "Icon" to the right of the image.

Reducing Lag:

Method 1: While playing runescape, you shouldn't be downloading files or watching videos or web TV related programs. Make sure there aren't any other programs using your Internet connection. Close any unnecessary software which may be running on your computer. Software such as Messenger, Recording programs, Windows Media Player, and others. If all else fails press the controls "Alt-Ctrl-Delete." From doing this you will see a new window named "Windows Task Manager."

You will now see a column of options:
Applications (Basically anything that is open)
Processes (Anything that is being operated)
Performance (How well your computer is doing, CPU Usage, PF Usage, etc.)
Networking (Local Area connection)
Users (Current users online and active)

To remove the source of Lag do the following:
Find the Ad or the Pop-up that has been slowing you down. Now once you find it either End task it or End process it. Note: it is good to check the box where it says "Show processes from all users," once click it will show you what you are currently doing and what the computer is doing. So again end process the ones where you are not doing. From doing so reduces lag on your computer.

Method 2: If you are having lag issues in your current world you should try switching worlds. Even if you are living in Canada, you might find out you have a better connection in the U.S. servers.

Method 3: Try staying away from worlds with 1800+ population in it. Unless you are trying to do trading business, but if you are training skills non-combatic or combatic it is wiser to choose a low world server. Residing in a location in-game with alot of players that are simultaneously typing will cause definite lag. Remember this is to reduce lag problems, so if you are one of those players that stay in populated worlds for reasons of quicker respawning of items and monstersl; do so at your own will but you will be effected by lag.

Method 4: On the 'Play-game' page, where you choose between high and low detail, you will see a scroll at the bottom of the page. Try clicking on the drop-down menu on this scroll and select 'Signed Applet using SUN Java' and then proceed to load the game as normal.



Method 5: If you are using an older version of Windows, ensure your Java Just-In-Time compiler for virtual machine is enabled. In Internet Explorer, under: Tools > Internet-Options > Advanced > Microsoft VM.

Method 6: Try improving your computer.

Method 7: Try using a different ISP (Internet-Service-Provider).

Method 8: When you see the Advert on top of runescape while playing in-game. You should right click on it, then go to "Detail Select" and choose the "Low" option. That will temporally reduce lag for a medium amount of time. Until it resets itself back to High detail.

Method 9: Another way of course is to just set your detail to low detail and adjust all your sound details while in-game to off so no music is heard. Reducing lag while playing runescape by a little bit.
