Patience in the game

I have been playing Rs for about 10 years now, with MANY lengthy breaks. However; its easily the most addictive game of my life, with that being said, I got into buy Mills and trading accounts after 3 or 4 years of playing. I suppose this is in my nature.

Recently I have realized, by doing this, obviously it makes me enjoy the game SO much less. Thats why I stopped skilling and just started doing PVP.

Now I come back after a 2 year embargo of the game completely. I bought some GP, which is fine. But I think I am going to stop thinking about the value of Gp's in a monetary amount.
I make a very good living outside of RS with my work, so when I look at grinding hours and hours for gp, my brain breaks it down in real time.

100M might take a couple weeks or a month to make w/ Zulrah (I only get to play 2-3 hours a day)
3 X 7 = 21 hours X 4 weeks = 84 hours
84 hours ÷ $150 (for 100M roughly) = $1.70 an hour in time spent vs. Gp gained.

This makes me feel as if buying GP is the better option, but then gives ZERO meaning to all skills (buying 99's with real money defeats the purpose for me because then its not special at all.) And then ruins the game compeletly.

So recently I have decided I am just going to be focusing on getting back to grass roots with the game and skilling to get the things I want. (Ie: Want 99 herblore? Get 99 farm and use herbs from that. Need money for 99 farm to get 99 herb? Do boss fights to allocate the money)

Although this is going to be a LONG process, thats obviously how the game is supposed to be played and thats where I am finding the most enjoyment currently.

Have you guys' gone through this same epiphany?

Tbh I dont even know how Iron man works, I left prior to the update and havent looked into it much.

 

It's basically doing exactly what you're describing and being unable to trade or use the GE. Very challenging shit.

Do you have to create a new acc or can you just use a current RS account and it just starts the iron man acc @ Tut Island?

 

I have never played or used an ironman account as it does not appeal to me . There is an ironman section (I assume). Check it out and best of luck .

You have to create a new account. I made an ironman pure for fun and it's pretty entertaining when I do come on occasionally. It's going to be annoying at the start though.

 

Start new eh? I suppose thats why the iron man mode is the way it is, allows people to rekindle that same old love for the game.

I've been considering doing an ironman, but it takes more time than I have so I decided not to.

Sounds fun though.

 

I'm in the same boat - my issue is my impatience! I have a mild attention deficit and find it hard to stick at something for a long long time, so i eventually end up getting fed up if im not 99 everything after 15 kills haha.

It drove me to playing RSPS because the levelling was quicker and you could make money on those servers with ease... [or on a spawn server you just instantly get everything lol]

But after taking a break i've realised i want to train my own account, and have the satisfaction of training myself without the need of buying accounts etc.

It'll take alot longer! But it'll be worth it in the end.

jsut play the game the way you want to play it and have fun. nowdays everyone focuses on ehp/fastest rates. makes the game no fun and more of a job

 

To be honest, just play the game how you want it. If you like the core aspect of the game, which is to grind, then you can try playing the ironman mode. Else, if you find that buying GPs to get to the end game is quicker, then buy GPs. You are the one who's playing the game and ultimately, you know best what you like.

 

I wouldnt count it as actually playing if you buy gp, like legit playing, personally. If you want to avoid this issue the play ironman if your issue is that you could just buy the gp you can get rid of that.

Another route you can go down is if you can make $1.7 an hour then why not play on 5-10 accounts at once? thats $17 or $8.5, easy

To the people saying "you're not playing legit if you buy GPs" -
It's called playing a game for a reason. The ultimate goal is to have fun. If you work IRL and have the money to buy gold, and you enjoy the game more by skipping the bullshit and getting straight to the point then do it.

Just create a ironman account if you enjoy doing ridiculously long and repetitive tasks to level your account

 

Yeah, See I agree with you guys' too.
To an extent, the problem with me buying mills, its it makes me devalue EVERYTHING in the game. Skilling sucks to me due to lack of patience, but lately I havent been buying an aggresive amount of gold, so I am enjoying the game again.

 

i have a similar problem and it has ruined the game experience for me, whenever i think about an x amount of gold i straight up think in my head, ' damn thats 20 bucks that im wasting on a game ' even though I make an alright paycheck every month I just can't get over the fact so for me to even spend 20m gp on some skills is a struggle

 

It's just a game and the monetary value shouldn't really matter to you, just enjoy it.

 

I'm this way with spending money on games. I've always had more than enough money to do it...I'm just not a money waster and spending on games feels like a waste.
