2015-2016 NHL Discussion Thread

Only one I've ever met was Darcy Tucker at a charity event. (An alumni of my highschool's hockey team who clocked a few minutes in the NHL showed up at one of our games to give a speech and cheer us on but I don't even remember his name, don't think he was very notable lol). Don Cherry lives a 15 minute walk from my place though, so when I was younger I'd always make the extra effort to pass by his house to see him

I used to play games at the mastercard center in etobicoke where the leafs practice but only ever saw morgan reilly as our bus was pulling in one day didn't really "meet" him though

well McDavid finishes point per game this season regardless of whether he gets a point in the final 3 games. crazy.

 

Damn it's just odd that there's another sythe user so close, I got a buddy that lives in Sherwood Park, was a while ago in west ed, I live about an hour west of Edmonton so I only come into the city couple times a month. Will start studying at NAIT in Edmonton soon though.

Ya, Im a plumber by trade myself, would be awesome if I could get into that team, playing in the beer league is too dangerous, I did play with blaze energy for a while but 36-0 is just...They've actually done it twice in their history now.

 

Some stats:

Since Jan 9th, the Sharks 120 goals are first in the League, and their 52 standing points are 2nd, only behind Anaheim. So, who thinks maybe the Sharks have a chance =o?

 

I wouldn't mind seeing the Sharks do it big also. Theyve been perennial playoff chokers but without McLellan you never know

 

True. I feel a new face behind the bench has help them reset a little bit.

 

Eric Haula has been great with the wilds the last couple of months, really picked up the pace. Hopefully he can land a bigger contract next season

 

god i hate the fucking oilers. why couldnt i live in a city that's hockey team is ANY OTHER TEAM (besides the leafs).

ya i know, i only get by through envisioning memories of the 06 cup run and how unreal the atmosphere will be in the new barn once they ever make the playoffs after 11+ years without it

 

The new arena looks nice, the only bad thing is that its fucking directly down town, where the fuck are 20k people going to park???? And imagine the traffic after each games, holy fuck man

 

ive wondered that a lot as well. im guessing they want everyone to take the lrt/the bus, but anyone who has already tried to take an LRT to an oil game at rexall already knows how packed they are, and that's with most people probably still parking near the arena (seriously, northlands alone must have 500+ parking spots, nevermind all the other parking around the arena) or getting a ride. i really dont know what they're going to do in the aready congested downtown. maybe run trains at a crazy frequency or something...

 

Ya, I guess we'll see. I asked them this summer for the hourly rate to skate in the arena, came out to 10k for 90 minutes lmao, maybe someday.
