Port Sarim Charter Anti Scam

So with some serious balls and some luck staking I've accumulated enough gold to buy a red Phat. In hanging out at w2 GE i've gotten a lot of people telling me they're giving away gold and that I need to meet them at the port sarim boats.
Now, I know how the scame works, you drop your phat, you trade them for their small amount of gold, and you charter the ship and say goodbye to your phat.
The antiscam is to drop the phat, run outside, accept their gold and just go pick the phat back up...pretty simple
Now I've had just as many people ask me if I've tried to do the antiscam yet, enough to raise suspicion. If I drop an item on one of the boats does it become automatically visible to everyone else or something? I feel like I'm missing something here, or I'm just being too suspicious.

 

I lost my yellow phat trying to anti scam with a known method similar to this involving dropping it. Around 30-50 of their friends hopped to the same spot and didnt allow me to pick up the item by dropping clan shit and pets etc. *couldn't find the phat under all that, just gave up and went back merching*

I just had a conversation with a P-Mod about it and it is all one giant scam. The people that are convincing me to try the Antilure are actually part of the lure. So...don't even bother considering it!!

 

How about: Don't ever drop items worth hundreds of dollars for any reason whatsoever?

Don't even bother trying to anti-scam. Not worth the risk. Block + ignore

 

Yeah, giving you the impression you can "anti-scam" is part of the lure.

DO NOT DROP YOUR ITEMS ON THE GROUND EVER

It is a major scam, luring is becoming more creative and people are becoming smarter about blocking your items. IT IS NOT WORTH THE RISK. No one who legitimately is quitting or whatever their reason is to hand out gold will make you do anything dumb maybe besides a trivia/dp. If it sounds too good to be true...it probably is.

I've since learned the entire process of the lure, but didn't want to post it for obvious reasons, I don't wanna see more people trying it lol.

 

You have to be real stupid to drop a partyhat on the floor, why, just why!

 

A lot of people are that greedy. Once you start getting the taste of riches, the prospect of "antiluring" someone out of 150m or so seems reasonable...even if it could cost you 3b or more...idk people are dumb.
