Scam Accusations

i think the main issue that would arise from this, is people may end up being targeted and harrassed and being required to prove their innocence every other day would get frustrating, and it would also cause a lot of extra work for mod's to force people to disprove every accusation they have against them.

However, in hindsight of this, if there was harsher consequences for those when they are disproved (and they're not just fresh accounts) it may discourage people from false-acusing.

 

I have not seen any user constantly accused of scamming unless they were guilty (or it was the spam forum in which case it wouldn't matter). If this were to be an issue, the users responsible would obviously be punished. However if someone has a large number of accusations against them then they're near always guilty.

 

That may be because though; currently they're being told to provide proof if accuse.

If proof was no longer required on the potential victim's part, and the burden of proof falls to the one being accused, this may rise.

 

At which point the users abusing this system would be punished accordingly. The users with false accusations against them would not be punished as a result of said accusations and the good this would do in weeding actual scammers out of the community would outweigh any potential negative results, of which there would not very likely be many of to begin with.

 

We already somewhat do this if there's a considerable amount of accusations against a user we're well within our rights to ban out of precaution and have them provide evidence to the contrary. It'll never become a mandated thing due to the subjective nature of it and for the fact of evidence being key - innocent until proven guilty. Denied.
