Is my hardware holding me back?

I currently run CS:GO on a computer with an Intel Celeron CPU and 4GB of ram, with built in graphics. Depending on what models are used on a map, i get anywhere between 15-35 fps.
to give you an idea of how weak my PC is, if someone throws a smoke grenade near me i get about 5 fps.

Do you think upgrading would considerably increase how well i can play? i sometimes feel like if i didn't have fps lag i would be landing alot more shots and winning alot more games, but maybe I'm wrong and it doesn't make a considerable difference.

    Thoughts?

Yes, it makes an immense difference. You can opt for the 144Hz monitors from BenQ as well, I heard that increases your gameplay tremendously as well.

Will look into monitors aswell, thanks.

Anyone have any idea what my FPS should be at least? I will be buying a new pc soon and trying to not spend an arm and a leg, all i really need for now is decent fps for games like cs:go and WoW (the only other game i play is runescape which i can run on pretty much anything)

    Hi,
What is a decent fps to play on?: 60.
In order to increase the fps I would HIGHLY recommend using a specific graphics accelerator. The inbuilt ones are usually pretty incapable when it comes to csgo. I personally use the NVIDIA GeForce GT750M which came with my laptop(Lenovo ideapad y500). Its not the best of graphics, but, I still get anywhere from 150-250 fps.
Conclusion: Get a better graphics card since your CPU is alright. but GPU (graphics department) is weak. This should increase your fps and thus increase your gameplay.
Good latency and high fps are two of the most important things that any gamer needs in a first person shooter like GO to improve his gameplay. Once these two are in place, its only up to you as to how well you can play.

    Get an external graphics card.

Yeah it's definitely holding you back. The difference between 35 max fps and 100+ is legitimately astounding. I used to play csgo on a laptop and now I play on a PC I built myself. The amount of limitation you have with a poor pc build is saddening. Definitely invest into a new graphics card/as pure addiction said better monitors (mega expensive though) and just improve on what you already have in your pc.

Heres my build if you were at all looking for new parts: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vdWBdC

In order to reach your full potential you need a really good pc, amazing mouse, and decent headphones. I breezed by ranks when I bought a pro gaming mouse. Everyone became easier to kill. Let alone a pc that's hudge

Not being able to hold consistent frames, or having a mouse with the correct DPI & sensitivity is always going to hold someone down, however, the idea of familiarity is always going to prevail. It's whether or not you're willing to take the week (or few days depending on your play time) of being subpar in comparison to what you were before in order to adjust to new hardware and move forward as a player.

Yes your hardware is holding you back! Mine is aswell as I have a 60 hz monitor and I know the 144 hz is a tremendous upgrade and will improve my gameplay.

As for your issure, if you're not getting 60+ fps (60 is all you really need, but obviously more is better) then you're not able to play to your full potential. I had this similar issue in League, my fps would drop below 10 on my old computer.

That matters in a game where seconds count! In CSGO, milliseconds are everything. You are also not outputting everything the way you input it.

To expand on what others have said, if you go for a 144hz monitor, you need to be able to obtain 144+fps as well, else you won't get the full benefit of 144hz refresh rate, and may even encounter tearing and skipping.

CS is a very cpu intensive game, so you'll definitely need to replace your cpu, with that comes a mobo replacement, as well as RAM.

You will also need a video card, which means you might also need to upgrade your power supply.

In short, you're looking at building a brand new computer.

Everything has been said on this thread, but just to add something. I've been Global Elite pretty much all the time this game has been out (over 2 years) and i've never had a 144hz monitor and on top of that I have the shittiest keyboard too.

You definitively need a new upgrade, but you do not necessarily need a 144hz monitor or a mechanical keyboard. What you do need is a good setup that gets you a decent amount of FPS and a really good fps mouse which is essential if you want to get better. I recommend a steelseries rival or a Razer Deathadder, they both are in my opinion the best fps mices on the market.

144 he definitely isn't necessary, but it makes a huge difference. It's like day and night.

And as for mech keyboards, those are a comfort thing. Not necessary either but they're amazing.

For the mice you suggested, I agree.
