Yup, works like a charm, a lot of teams do this though but perhaps not as much as Anaheim does. It becomes a very slow and tedious game, even in the high school leagues we played, we experienced it quite often but we had really great offense so didn't bug us too much.

Can't really just have an offensive powerhouse of a game. With goalies and defensemen getting much better, the average Goals per game has fallen in the past couple decades. While I agree with your position, it's really the only way the game can go. It's not like defensemen could get worse :p As for fixes, do you think the nets will ever get bigger? Even if they make goalie pads smaller, I doubt that would make much of a difference.

in a perfect world they would play on international sized rinks. with how big players are these days nhl rinks dont give a lot of open ice

What are the different size dimensions? I don't watch much hockey outside of the NHL

A bunch of different line measurements and stuff e.g. a bit more space behind the net, but the most important difference is the much wider ice (85 feet in the NHL vs 100 feet on international ice)

For this reason I like international games a lot more, more space always allows players to showcase more of their skill...when you consider your everyday youth AA players are playing on NHL-sized ice, doesn't make much sense to have the same size ice for the NHL as well

edit: this was sorta badly phrased but what I mean is that it's fine that highschool kids are playing on 85-foot wide ice, but because this is fine it should mean that the ice for pro players who are a lot bigger and faster should be playing on bigger ice as well

They actually recently discussed about getting bigger nets in the NHL, they already made the pads smaller, that was last season or the season before.

International ice rinks are way bigger, but olympic sized ice rinks are even bigger than international rinks. I'd personally want them to go with international sized rinks as it would be more open ice and more goals most likely in return.

That means quite a lot of changes to the stadium sizes and arrangements, would be quite tough to implement imo

Yes it would be extremly expensive, making the nets bigger would be way cheaper but if they really want to unleash all the talent these players have they'd have to go with a bigger rink, I love watching the world hockey championships that they play in big rinks (when hosted in Europe). Going to be in Russia this may so we already know who the winner will be without playing the tournament as they will just bribe the refs like 2014.

You and ref bribing haha. But really, do you think they would ever make the nets bigger? I feel like it's such a simple yet drastic change to make. If so, would they make it taller? Wider? or maybe even both?

yeah. the next logical move if they want to increase scoring would be to make the nets bigger. they'd also likely make them bigger in a proportional manner, current nets are 72" x 48", they'd likely do something like increase it to 78" x 52", probably. doubt they would only make it taller/wider

They discussed it in nov 2015, so I strongly believe they are going to implement it. Perhaps already next season. I don't see the enjoyment in putting in 5-6 goals every game, I rather watch something that is a tight battle like 1-1 and then goes on to OT and the 3 vs 3 is great as well, so dangerous

I'd love to see the average game end with like 7 goals. 4-3, 5-2, etc. Makes it exciting, plenty of scoring ;D

Yeah I'm sure you guys all heard of it back when Ovi hit 500 goals they compared the scoring in Gretzky's era to the scoring now and said that Ovi was a better goal scorer just due to how many goals are being scored per game now. If it was up to me I'd make the nets thinner, easier wraparounds + more space in general behind the net is pretty interesting too.

Yeah it's crazy how good Ovi is at scoring goals. On a similar topic, did you guys see David Legwand score a goal from the defensive zone? And no, it wasn't an empty net XD

What yall think of Minnesota getting a new coach? Personally I think we can get our shooters back up to 30 goals a season and dubby will eventually have a season better than last

Minnesota, like the San Jose Sharks, is a very very streaky team. They'll go on some very good runs, and then go on some very bad runs. I don't see them going deep in the playoffs, if they even do make the playoffs.

Gostisbehere: nah. Too inconsistent. Panarin has that trophy locked up easily.

MvDavid: He'd definitely be in the talks if he didn't get injured. But after missing 37 games, I don't realistically see him as a justifiable choice for the trophy.

Did you see that blackhawks game though? we got over 15 games left we keep it strong we can make it. In literally a week we went from nothing to something with a new coach, keep your eyes peeled were far from out yet.
