2016-2017 NFL Discussion Thread

Made a new thread for the upcoming season. What are your guys thoughts of the next season? Any predictions on the season or thoughts of off season moves?

 

Do you think Peyton will be walking into the sunset? Everything was pointing towards yes and then supposedly Von Miller claimed he doubted the old man was hanging everything up. Certainly in his best interest to go out on top, even if he was completely carried there.

 

I hope so for his sake. I just don't see him being much more effective than he was this season. If he sticks around and does poorly, his last memories won't be good ones. I don't think he'll be staying in Denver if he does chooses to stick around again. Brock should take his place.

 

I agree, I think he just needs to ride off in the sunset.. I mean if he doesn't go back to the broncos he will go to the rams.. I personally think he is the greatest QB to ever play and now that he has his second ring he can back it up. Like I said, my personal opinion that he is the greatest.. (Before anyone freaks out on me )

 

Sounds like everything is falling in place for Matt Forte to go to the Pats. He's not being re-signed in Chicago and wants to play for a superbowl. The Pats are the only contender with a glaring need at RB, if the numbers align it sounds like a perfect fit.

 

He's definitely one of the greats, if not the second behind Tom Brady. They both have achievements that no other QB has, so it can definitely be a toss up depending who you ask.

I can't remember the last time the Pats ran the ball. It's pretty amazing to think they've gotten that far without a notable RB. I mean they're pretty stacked on the receiving end and they have Tom Brady so I don't blame them. They definitely need to run the ball though.

 

Oh for sure. The sad thing is we had serviceable running backs. Blount is definitely more of a 2nd half running back to further wear out the opposing D and end the game and Dion Lewis was phenomenal both when running and as a pass catcher but must be kept as a role player to avoid injury. Both of them went down and then our offensive line went to shit so bad that we could have had AP and not have much success. It all starts in the trenches on both sides of the ball that's for sure.



Interesting on the Peyton lawsuit front, supposedly ESPN has been told to keep quiet on the issue. Wonder if it'll last more than 3 days which was his HGH allegations which still are yet to be resolved.

 

Talking about the Tennessee one? Many publications on ESPN have been talking about it, at least from what I seen yesterday. If the story turns out to be true, then it will ruin Peyton completely. What I find very interesting is that in an odd twist, the non-disclosure agreement could potentially save him from explaining the situation. I just don't see how he can speak of what happened, without breaking that agreement, to his benefit.

 

Can someone fill me in on whats is actually going on I read something about that the other day just really didn't understand it to well. So if he doesn't talk he is fine. But if he does he is screwed ? I honestly believe this will just blow over and everyone is going to forget about this once he signs with the Las Angles Rams

Basically, he allegedly sexually assaulted a team trainer, she reported the incident, he tried to cover it up by ruining her reputation, credibility, and eventually ended up ruining her career. There is a lot to it so you'll have to read about the incident in full detail. I don't necessarily think it's something we can indict him for because he hasn't spoke about it from his perspective, and probably never will because of the non-disclosure agreement both he and the trainer signed, however it will always be one of those things that lingers with him when we think or talk about Peyton Manning. I'll honestly be surprised if he continues to play with this story hanging above his head.

 

I hate how this is just coming up after he won the Super Bowl because now everyone is going to look past the fact that he just won his second super bowl and focus just on this incident that allegedly happened a while back.. Hate to see something like this follow him for the rest of his career/after he retires..

Alright thank you for that info! I really haven't heard to much about this not going to lie, people have done worse things like Ray Lewis. I didn't find out about what he supposedly did way back when till after he won the Superbowl back in 2012. So I still believe it will be just pushed under the rug like most things now a days :/. He will come out of retirement once Eli wins another ring

I don't think so just from knowing the fact that Roger Goodell is as stubborn as they come and won't back down to assert pseudo-dominance after continuously fucking up wherever he involves himself.

 

As a Cowboys fan (no boo's pls, I was born into this) I'm pretty excited about having a top 5 pick in this draft. Im hoping (and would bet) that we're picking to help out our defense because we're going to thankfully be losing that disgrace of a player Greg Hardy which will leave a giant, douche-shaped hole in our D-line.

 

Should be an interesting draft this year. I've heard it should be a good one for both o-line and d-line players as many teams are in desperate need for good lineman. Skol Vikes!

 

WR's are slow as fuck this draft, it's pitiful.

 

It'll be interesting if down the line we see a league wide temporary shift in type of routes run by WRs simply as the speed just isn't there.

They largely seem to be a bit more physical at least from what I've noticed however. Would you prefer speed or physicality?
