So glad to hear that your friends surgery went well!

 

What do you mean what happened? Like why did he have open heart surgery? Well he had a heart infection, and the walls of his heart were way too thin (I have no idea what kind of bacteria), so he needed to get 2 valves replaced is what they originally thought. Luckily they were able to clean out one valve and just replace the one valve.

And the reason he was so young with such a bad heart infection was due to the heavy use of drugs from an early age. I think Jesse (my friend) was about 13 years old when he first started shooting up heroin. To be barely in 8th grade and already be addicted to IV heroin, on top of his fucked up home life. The kid just never had a chance. Him and I both started using together (I didn't pick up the IV use until I was about 14-15) but I atleast had a good supportive family that was able to get me out of the drug use. Jesse just never got a shot at success. So from 13 to 20 doing heroin/meth and a variety of other substances it just finally came back around on him and he got this infection.

And It may sound like Jesse and I are just scummy drug addicts, but that's not the case. We're both genuine human beings with morals just like the rest of the world. So please put yourself in my position before you're quick to judge. Thank you.

 

Yep. I don't know but I got an infraction from it but I think it's my fault since my question is incomplete and it doesn't look like I'm asking what really happened and what caused this.

Why would I judge you? I take drugs (took rather) but I'm not of a heavily user, at least you made your way out of it cos for me it's very difficult to do it.

My friends out of the hospital now and in the hospitals drug rehabilitation program. He is in good spirits and feeling well he says. I have high hopes for him. He still can't lift more than 10 pounds but he is recovering okay. Once again, thank you all for your prayers and support.

 

Well, after only 2 days from transferring to the drug rehab part of the hospital, I found out today that Jesse is Anemic and is back in the hospital about to have a blood transfusion.

Does anybody know much about anemia and whether or not blood transfusions are usually successful?

 

Be strong, I can't imagine how hard it must be.

Anemia is the most common blood disorder globally.

Although treatment for Anemia differs depending on what type of Anemia it is, I will assume that the treatment for your friend will be to lay off the drugs. If his symptoms become severe then doctors will most likely opt for a blood transfusion or injections of synthetic erythropoietin, a hormone produced normally by your kidneys. both of these treatments help stimulate red blood cell production and ease fatigue.

I hope Jesse is ok, and that both of you can find a way to stop using drugs (that is if both of you are still using). The main thing is to find the root cause of the problems, if Jesse can stop using drugs then I am pretty sure his health will improve.

I know that stopping drug use is a very hard thing to do, I have been in that situation before and something bad, but thankfully not life-threatening happened to me which made me snap out of the imaginary world I was in where using drugs was fine and that I was invincible.

I know this is a bad situation for Jesse and his family/friends but hopefully he can use it to get over his drug addiction and continue a healthy and full life.

He had a blood transfusion and is doing really well now. He's in rehab and almost has 30 days clean. I'm living in sober living and am coming up on my 90 days in a few days.

I have over a year clean now! Doing really well and working 2 jobs. Come a long way since this post.


And my friend is doing well, last I heard he was 6 months clean. We don't talk as much anymore due to him still using for a while after I stopped.

 

I am so happy for you. It takes so much to be clean. I'm really happy for you.

My son went through the same thing. He has been clean for about 6 months now as well. He concentrates on working out.

 

I'm really happy for you man crazy how horrible events in our life can end up changing us for the better. I'm glad your friend is doing better also how you were able to come to a realization of your mistakes as you saw the result of what will be before your eyes and for you to disband from him after he continued to use drugs. The type of people we have around us are the type of people we become. Looks like you got your life on track. Health issues are no secret.. Most start deep within and grow then when they come to the surface we wonder how we got the health issue when we were completely fine the day before. Usually it's an accumulation of stressors on the body wether they be physical, mental, and or chemical. A couple examples are unhealthy food, stress, drugs, radiation etc. We must maintain our physical and mental health. Health is wealth and the greatest gift you can be given. Maintaining good health should be the priority of our lives because we can only have a nice pleasant human experience within a healthy body and mind. I'm really happy to read your life transformation.
