    Introduction to Mechanical Keyboards

I have never used them but they have no bump, no click and the same force for the entire press. So they are really easy to hit which makes people like them for gaming. The old school spring switches might be more similar to membrane but I've never used one of those either.

    Introduction to Mechanical Keyboards

I love the feeling of typing on mechanical keyboards. Didn't they all used to be mechanical though? I feel like with the rise of Macbooks and Mac keyboards in general, the rubber got more popular because people see the flat keyboard and think it's nice. It's always fun typing on the mechanical ones because the people around you are wondering how the fuck you're going so fast.. given you can type fast

    I have the Razer BlackWidow and my negatives on it are;

    - High noise (especially when programming)
    - Sometimes when gaming a key such as A will not return above the click, sometimes pushing me left when I don't expect it. Entirely my fault. However, never had the issue with a different keyboard.

Sounds like they're cherry mx blue equivalent.

They're both loud and have issues when double tapping.

Probably good for your programming sessions though :)

I actually just got my first mechanical board. Cherry mx reds. I don't feel that it gives me much of an edge in gameplay or anything, but man is typing satisfying.

Yes they all used to be mechanical. Rubber domes are much, much cheaper to make and can be made much smaller (for laptops) than mechanical.

Clears IMO are like the perfect balance of stiff/tactile/responsive, I picked them up based on a recommendation from a friend and I'm glad that I did.

Just a PSA - Everyone should avoid the blackwidow. The switches are low quality and will die out very quickly, but only a couple random keys/switches, whereas the rest will work just fine.... I had one that started going bad after only a year of owning it, and I've heard similar horror stories about the same exact issues.

Seems like they're cherry mx clones. Probably slightly different.

I'm in love with my brown keys, if I ever get another keyboard I'd have to go with them again.

I love blues as well, but I find them to be annoying at times, and don't want to be "that guy" that everyone can hear typing in the house and on Skype / Discord etc.

not all switches are actually loud.

The loud clicking is actually really satisfying at 100+ WPM xD.

A lot of the noise also comes from bottoming out your keys. It's tedious, but you can pop off your key caps and put O-rings around your switches to avoid most of the noise that comes from typing.

Blues were fun for a few minutes but I really didn't like them. I have head phones on and can't hear the clicks but I just liked the browns so much more.
