Didn't get the chance to see it. Watched the high lights and you're not joking. Great game. Congratulations to the Finns.

Corruption, he got 5+20 lol...but doesn't matter since they lost anyways. The 3 "superfinns" scored a combined of 44 points in 7 games. Puljujarvi, laine and aho, was a great game and they deserved to win it.

Yeah, i think this upcoming draft is going to be really good matthews will go #1 but not sure after that who will be next. 44 points between 3 people in 7 games is something in all my years i havent seen before hopefully these young kids have a bright future ahead of them

Yeah basically, really shitty officiating but it worked out for them in the end. Read somewhere that Puljujarvi with 17 points has the 2nd most points ever at the juniors by skaters under 18 years old, in the company of Jagr and Gretzky. This tournament really will help Laine's draft position, that top Finnish line was just insane.

edit: found this on the tsn website (not updated yet obviously)
Really goes to show just how dominant that line was. Especially seeing as a lot of the lines on that list are from an era where 10, 15 goal blowouts were much more common in this tournament, just ridiculous

Crosby getting shafted from the all star game again, still a surprise even considering his season so far. Byfuglien on the roster surprises me as well considering his outspoken dislike for the 3-on-3 format. Seeing Backstroms name though makes me happy that he finally gets a chance to participate in this event (and of course, John Scott!)

John Scott lmao. I swear, someone got on a bunch of bots to rig that for shits and giggles. There is no way he was legitimately elected. It's so funny to see. But ayeee!! Joe Pavelski in his first All-star game ;)

So a couple of months down the road and i was right. They are near the middle of the pack and actually have a legit chance of making the playoffs. They pulled of a solid trade for the best young "TRUE" Dman in the league.

In other news Lightning are finally healthy but have some serious stuff going down. Our #3 draft pick in 2011 Drouin wants out and we have contract issues. Stamko's, Hedman, johnson, and pilat to name a few. If we pay Stamko's we cant sign hedman and pilat to long term contracts. Now in my opinion i would be more willing to trade Filpula and carl who both have 5m a year contracts. Someone like the oilers or pheonix would be willing to snag these guys. Now that could free up the money to sign pilat, hedman and stammer. Now with the Drouin situation i honestly think it's best if he goes. (I was furious when we passed on Seth Jones @#3) Something just isnt working for him here. He has way to much talent and isnt producing. It's either the system, coach or the player. Hell it could be all three for all we know. I think we put together a package deal with drouin and one or two of our bad contracts. I feel we can dump contracts and snag some solid draft picks this way. I wouldnt mind a true power forward

Naslund, Forsberg and Sundstrom. Unreal man.

Heard Matthews kinda choked a bit for USA. That being said, McDavid wasn't overly dominant in the world juniors (don't get me wrong though, he still played great) and then went on to light it up in the 13 games NHL games he played in (albeit it's a hella small sample size)

What if people voted for John Scott as a joke but it actually has a meaning. The league has had a huge decrease in fights this year. Maybe this is the fan base saying they want more old time hockey? I find the lack of physical play annoying. The amount of stick checking and drive by's are dumb founding. What happened to taking the man and removing him from the play? When a skirmish erupts refs are so quick to stop fights. Let boys be boys and fight it out. I want more bloodshed and deep hatred in the game. It makes for exciting rivalries and games to watch. I find myself youtubing old Detroit and Colorado games along with others. I like when star players are hit and a price is paid for doing it. I dont like career ending injuries but it's part of the game we all know and love. They've removed a part of the game and its never going to be the same. When lawyers got involved it was GG

Not too sure I agree with the trade. Nashville got the better end of the deal with Ryan Johansen I feel. Johansen is a stellar center, and will do them wonders in Nashville.

Scott could have been different elsewhere, but while in San Jose, he actually rarely fought. Who wants to fight a 6'8" 260 lb man haha. But also, he didn't check much at all. He was just there for the looks as opposed to anything else.

Lol all the Leafs fans shitting on Bernier after not watching that game don't realize that a lot of those goals weren't even his fault. But yeah that was an ugly game that showcased our inconsistencies. Not even mad though, this team has come a long way from last year and it was a particularly tough road trip.

Yeah, they were very sloppy in their own zone. But them Sharks tho, 3 game winning streak bound to turn into a 5 game losing streak soon lmao (hopefully not)

McDavid finally back after the all-star break. Klefbom also slated to be back shortly after the all-star break. Yakupov should be returning next game. Yahooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I find myself wondering all too often how different this season could have gone if we didn't have almost all of our key players (besides Hall and Nuge) injured for fairly lengthy periods of time at every point this year. The NHL is a cruel mistress.

Yeah, look at the Lightning's season haha. Excited to see McDavid come back and start wrecking it up again. But since the Oilers now have 3 top 2 centers, who do you think will be the one to go?

I don't think they will get rid of any till at least next season is over. But if they got rid of one of them now, it'd be probably be Nuge. Drai is a powerforward who has shown incredible offensive talent. Smarts in the dzone too. McDavid is obviously out of the question.

I think they'd rather move Nuge to the wing before they trade him if they don't want to run a 3 scoring line situation.

I don't think they have the cap space to keep them, which is why I posed the question. I remember reading an article on the website explaining why Nuge may be on the market at the end of this year due to cap space, but let me see if I can find it. Although, if they trade Nuge they could get a good defensemen which they desperately need.

That's one of the few things looking up for the Leafs this season, after trading away Kessel we have a lot of cap space to work with even with the partial retention + a solid couple of draft picks this upcoming year (conditional on if Pittsburgh makes the playoffs) we'll have a lot of talent shored up in the minors. Losing JVR is going to be a huge loss to the team, but nobody expected to make the playoffs anyways so I'm honestly fine with tanking it out another year - especially seeing how many thought he would regress after losing Kessel as a linemate, instead he did quite the opposite.

29 pts in 40 games. Certainly not too shabby, considering his linemates lol. As a leafs fan, what do you think about the possibility of getting Stamkos :p?
