New Rank System

So who's got some horror stories regarding the new rank system?

There's a huge discussion on reddit about it, tons of people lost not just one, but a couple ranks.

Myself personally. I'm STUCK at LEM. I've won all but 2 of my last ~15-18 games, all of which I was top frag or 2nd frag, and yet I still cannot manage to rank to SMFC.

I won 8 matches in a row in supreme. Then lost 3 matches now I'm back in legendary eagle... Something doesent add up..

 

I have seen people on reddit complaining as well. This is people that were on 5+ winning streaks and deranked with 1 loss. I have won but also lost some games after this change but haven't deranked yet from global but then again, I've won so much more than lost in global.

 

It's some good quality banter. I'm in MGE and now there are smurfs everywhere who didn't even purposely derank.

DMG to MG1, FUUUUUU. So annoying especially when there are derankers on your team.

 

Deranked from SMFC to MGE from winning 1, losing 1 (derank), losing another (derank), winning 2, losing 2 (derank on second one.), and then winning 3 in a row and then losing one to get MGE. I top fragged every single game but maybe 1 or 2. This is bullshit.

 

Here's the statistics for my last 37 games, still no rank or derank.

 

The new update will go a long way in fixing mm since it's so broken. Every now and then for the fun of it we would go play mm with our global friends and the lack of skill in that rank was heartbreaking, back when I got global it actually meant you were good and was something to be proud of, it's not like that anymore. MM will be more like it was when I played once it's settled and everyone is at there rank. Good job Valve! A step in the right direction.

 

How is this a good thing? does that mean i deserve to go to MG2 from LE because of trollers in my team shooting me in the head for trying to defuse to get mvp even though i got 4 kills?

 

That's exactly the thing - Valve CHANGED the ELO required to obtain the ranks. What USED to be LE is now MG2/DMG. You're still in the same "skillgroup" - The only difference is your rank changed.

 

ACTUALLY. You lose a game and derank, you win 3 in a row and don't rank up. It's broken as fuck.

 

That's because it's adjusting your rank to match the ELO you have. Nothing broken about that.

 

I was LE and played with my american friends who're the gold nova area, on a MacBook.. For a few weeks, I'm now MG2 and get called a smurf every game on a 12+ year account lol.

The ranking milestones are pointless in an ELO style system, you may as well just see your ELO.. However, I have to say that I prefer the more difficult aspect of it. It will differentiate between the real global elites and the rest.

 

It sucks because not only is it harder to rank up and easier to derank, because of all the new ELO fluctuations there are people in brackets that don't belong there (re: played LEs in GN3 earlier after I deranked there from MG2) further screwing up people's ranks. I understand the concept behind the update but the execution seems a little... sloppy? They had to have foreseen this problem. Not to mention smurfing is a lot easier... hopefully it evens out in a few months and everyone ends up in their "proper" rank bracket.

 

The CSGO MMR is not based off of elo and is in fact way more complicated and unique although they share similarities if you are interested in how csgo works you can google Glicko 2 for more information since that is what it is based off.

N4NO is 100% right, you were once LE but that is just a title given to a number, your skillgroup is still the same it's just you are now an mg2 and all the other mg2s are the same skill since they all deranked as well. Csgo is returning to the age of stricter standards upon it's players, just because you deranked 4 times and are finding it hard to rank up does not mean you are not good, it means you are in your skillgroup and need to continue practicing in order to advance. For now though it's rather pointless to play mm since the ranks still need to stabilize once you are no longer getting mg2s that should now be in gn2 - gn1 then you should go back to playing.

This will go a long way in making csgo mm interesting again and hopefully less people will laugh at global players now that it means they are genuinely skilled unlike before.

Before this change in rank system, those who are still global now was before high elo global, something like global x3. So the change was needed, its more accurate now.

It's a screenshot from CSGO Demos Manager - It takes your downloaded demos, analyzes them, and gives you a ton of statistics from the demos.

Only downside - You have to download every demo for every game you play.


Edit: Also - It finally happened. After like 48 games, I deranked to LE after having a shitty 2 days of games. RIP.
