I don't know what you mean by this lol...I was just trying to say that only 6 points separate 2nd and last in the division so it's pretty volatile atm. We saw Edmonton being in a playoff spot a few days ago, not having lost 3 straight they dropped to 6th in the division.

Yeah I noticed they haven't been doing too well as of late. Habs have fallen off even harder though, I remember when they were well ahead of everybody in the East and now are right there with the top teams, barely holding onto 1st in the Atlantic. the lack of Price and Gallagher are really hurting, we'll see how well they'll bounce back when the 2 come back.

That's crazy to think about. Still can't envision the Oilers actually having a shot at this. I'm curious to see how their GFA (Goals for average) ends up this year and where they rank compared to other teams.

 

Sharks looked good last night, especially on the PP. Going up against one of the best PK squads in the league and converting twice is no small deal (especially when it makes Lucic look silly, it's fun to hate the guy whether he's on the Bruins or the Kings ) Big win too, in the Pacific you need every point you can get and it's even better if it hands a loss to the division champs.

Leafs looked...okay against Arizona. Pretty good performance overall but a bunch of sloppy errors led to an easily winnable game turning into a 3-2 loss. The effort from this squad every game is noticeably more than that of last year's though. They did a segment on Sportsnet comparing the interviews from last year at around this time to this years interviews - a lot of angry, on-edge, cranky players compared to light-hearted ones cracking jokes bodes well for the future of the team this season I think.

Oil are headed into an important stretch of games. Five Pacific teams in a row starting on Saturday (all teams that are very close in standings to them too, save maybe the Kings) means they can really push themselves up to be standouts of the Pacific along with the Kings and Sharks or stay right there in the middle of the pack with everyone else - losing a lot of these games would actually put them behind everyone by a fair amount too. Critical few games for them.

 

As I said, the Sharks are consistently inconsistent. It seems that they're winning streaks tend to come when Joe Pavelski is racking up the points. Check when they're winning and when Pavelski is getting points, you'll see almost a direct correlation. Pavelski will get cold and they'll lose, Pavelski will get hot and they'll win. Shame really ;\

@Oils, not sure if it's them or the Flames who do well against division opponents. Can't remember off the top of my head. But that stretch is definitely do or die time. If they're going to band together and go for it, we'll see then imo.

Oh I've been to at least a dozen games man My dad has been a long time fan. This will be my first of this year, since I have been several hours away from home at college for my first year. It's kind of sucked since the Sharks main channel isn't in the TV package on campus But oh well.

Canada fell 4-2 to the States, was close up until the last 5 minutes. A few unlucky bounces but overall Canada really needs to start shooting more and stop fucking around and trying to be fancy with the puck if they want to go far in the tournament.
Undisciplined penalty coming from the States in the 1st period too, got him a major and a game misconduct. Guess that's what happened when you get a bunch of 19 year olds together in one place Was the 4th major of the tournament, a bunch of really ugly hits earlier on in the day, will see if I can find videos.

Also, Kings won today 5-0 against Vancouver. Toffoli got his second career hat trick tonight while Quick got his 40th career shutout

 

Kings are pulling away from everyone else in this shitty Pacific division. Though taking a quick look at the Habs, anything is still possible in the next few months...

 

The Sharks took 6 penalties, 4 alone in the first period. They allowed 4 power play goals. The Avalanche didn't win that game, the Sharks lost it. Kind of a tough game to watch during the third period. Up until that it was pretty good though.

And yeah, no one can compete with the Kings right now in the Pacific division. But give it time and the Kings will cool down and another team will get hot.
