Nostalgia trip: Starting again, need help...

Hey.

Played RS like years ago back when I was 12-15, I'm now 22.
I have been looking for a game for ages to play while at work and not busy and I thought hey while not start again...

I need ideas what to create? Pk'er/Main etc what would be most fun?

Pk'er - what type?
Main - how??!?

 

Creating a PvP account should always be based on your current stats and your oppositions stats so always take note on your combat level.

I often find low level Granite Maul pures are common or even AGS pures but that's mostly down to individual preference. There are various guides out there on how to make the basic efficient pure then the training will be down to you. The most common way of training any combat based stat is through NMZ, which is a minigame you should research.

If you're tempted to go main PKing then you should base your account off of a barrows pure style then you're able to risk fight most others and you'll be at the standard level of combat for the majority of the people PKing.

 

Well I have just started lvl 3, just finished TUT island.

I was thinking Range > Rune 2h combo F2p pking at the start? And go from there?

 

Personally, I'd recommend making a main to start. You'll get to go through all of the games content and you'll have a good time remembering all the old times from when you used to play. Nostalgia is a key part of Old School Runescapes charm. There's also a fair amount of new content that's been added through community polls (Zulrah, Nightmare zone, etc.) that will allow you to find some new stuff to keep you entertained.

Later on when you get bored, you can always end up making a PKer and you'll have a bit of knowledge about the game from your main to know what to do. There's nothing stopping you from creating both accounts now and switching over when you're bored of one!

Ultimately though, it's really what you enjoy most. The PKing scene is still pretty vibrant, especially if you try out Deadman Mode.

But yeah I think for a start I am going to go for some 40att, 40str, and range, do some range pking.. Once I get bored try out different things, quests etc.

Just purchased 10m so my time should be optimized (no selling cow hides for my arrows haha)

 

get waterfall quest done first, get all the quests need to level you quicker, that you can do thats what id recommend, then start slayer with combat

 

Definitely do some quests. Happy to see you can enhance your experience with the good ol' rwt. That's some REAL nostalgia.

Anyone remember buying 1m for $16 pre-pre-eoc? I do lol.

 

I agree strongly with Brendan. It's what I've done and I'm quite happy with my experience so far! You can always make enough in funds with your main to support PK'ing habits so you can continue doing the things you like to do.

 

I started a new account initially as a pure which quickly transitioned into a main account.


Pures are to limited. Establish a man account, then create a pure.


or


make a rune pure and have the best of both worlds as a main, and pure.

 

Also after the nostalgia, there's a ton of NEW content like Zulrah you can try that wasn't in pre-eoc.

 

I'm just doing some noob f2p pk'ing..

22 range and 27 mage, Earth bolt and mith arrows.

Just figured I would do some of that and then grow the account after, tbh I agree with quests but they are fucking boring! Hate having to do them


EDIT@ I set up a little mouse macro, so while I am at work it was doing some curses or whatever (the computer was infront of me so no worries with ban etc)

 

Probably not a bad idea to start, just on a F2P account? Or did you pay for members? At least this way (Assuming you're F2P) and you change your mind with anything you won't waste some money.

Just be wary, even with you babysitting the macro, OSRS bans are pretty high at the minute. If you do start getting attached to your account, it's not worth the risk.

 

Yeah staying F2P for a bit, until higher levels and then I can decide what to do.
F2p pking sucks at lvl 15 haha, everyone munching lobbies = no k0's..

Got 20att from vampire quest, 29mage, 23range.

Just getting str up (17atm)...

Yeah I understand about the babysitting a bot, but my love for Runescape lies withing botting, I hate doing mundane tasks, I always used to bot so I am used to accounts going bye bye.

 

Well then bot if you prefer, high ban rates though..

 

No matter what pure you make, if it's members, start with this:

Vampire Slayer
Waterfall
Tree Gnome (Should get you around 40 Attack, 30 str)
If you want to go over 40 Attack do...
Fight Arena
Grand Tree

This will give you a good start to training.

 

Even when baby sitting @ work? Like it will be running behind my windows while I do my duties lol?

Ban rates are really high at this point. Babysitting probably won't make a difference.

Furthermore, I'm pretty sure it would be even riskier to bot F2P on a new account. Should just get members and play the game legit.

 

I'm in your same boat. Haven't played in years and am into my 20s now.
I just made a new account 3 weeks ago.. Coming along pretty well. Make a pure. They're always fun and take a lot less time than a main to be considered good. Shoot me a pm on here, I'll help you out.

 

I'm doing the same thing. Im starting with a pure, it may turn into a main later.

 

Without a doubt, a zerker. Those are fun pures to have. They have defense so not everything hits like 1 defense pures, but you'll still hit more often than barrows pures. Plus you can get a whip or even ags for some crazy combos ^-^
