Just curious and to get more discussion on gambling going...

• Do you gamble at a casino, if so, regularly or not?
• What games do you tend to bet on/play? (Roulette/Slots/Blackjack etc)
• Do you have a specific tactic for any of the games or just gamble how you feel like?
• Whats your biggest win or loss at a casino?
• How long do you usually spend at the casino?

...& whatever else you feel is relevant to this thread topic.

I personally do gamble from time to time at a real life casino. I only go when me and my mates decide to go there, I never go on my own. I always take a certain amount of cash, and if I lose that I'm done (as in I don't withdraw any more to gamble with, I know my limits).

I find it interesting how different people play. I usually come with a small amount (£100-£500) and just play stupidly, for the fun of it mainly. I usually lose what I came with within the first 5-10 minutes of being at the casino by just doing stupidly crazy bets on roulette, if I get lucky and win, I sometimes carry on if I am in the mood for it otherwise I call it a night and stop if its sufficient profit. if I lose what I came with, then gg, and I stop. I don't play any other games really as I find slots has terrible odds and just isn't worth it and blackjack is just too boring for me.

My biggest win at a casino was £7k on Roulette with a £1k total bet. My biggest loss never exceeds £500 at an IRL casino as I never take more. However, when I started off gambling, as it was addictive and fun at first and a new experience, I realised I need to limit what I lose after I made $25k online in 2 nights, then lost most of it because I got carried away lol.

Never been to a casino actually, though there's a mini Vegas less than 2 hours from where I live. Having taken so many bets as the house, it definitely puts the perceived 'thrill' of gambling in perspective.

Most I've won was 10k playing blackjack. I usually don't bet much but I was up a couple hundred bucks so I figured I'd just do one big $500 hand. Won it, rebet, and streaked all the way to 10k.

Slots aren't even fun because the payout isn't even half your bet. Roulette is alright but I'd still rather play cards. I've tried baccarat a couple times but don't enjoy it quite as much as blackjack even though it is completely 50/50 odds.

I gamble probably every other weekend. Craps most of the time and blackjack if I come with buddies that don't know how to gamble

• Do you gamble at a casino, if so, regularly or not?

I do, very rarely.. Probably twice last year.

• What games do you tend to bet on/play? (Roulette/Slots/Blackjack etc)

Usually I want to play poker. Though there's never enough people there to get a cash game going.. So Roulette mainly.

• Do you have a specific tactic for any of the games or just gamble how you feel like?

Gamble what I feel will come next, leave if I pay for the night. ( Paying for the night would be the meal cost, hotel & drinks )

• Whats your biggest win or loss at a casino?

At the casino was ~ £350 which paid for the trip.

• How long do you usually spend at the casino?

Less than an hour.

To add, gambling is very dangerous. It leads to a path of risk addiction. Where, you get your fix from risking what you cannot afford. Psychologically proven, very little done about it. I have a personal friend who's gone down a path he'll likely never return from, so just be as careful as possible. Hopefully you're not making this thread whilst holding back in denial, as often you hear the good stories from the gamblers and not the dark side until they're in a world of hurt.

My advice would be to stop when you're playing with stakes that high. However, if you think you can control it then good luck to you.

Way I see it is I'm paying for entertainment. If you go out with your buddies on a Saturday night you might spend anywhere from 20-100 bucks depending on what you're doing. If you come with 20-100 bucks to go gambling and get a few hours of entertainment out of it - then what's the big deal? Same thing as taking your girl to the movies (sometimes you get lucky) - but at least gambling stimulates the brain and gives you a chance at making money

I agree and disagree with you. It's more about learning from your mistakes and having that self control to not just gamble everything, or whatever. If someone is capable of having that self control, which I feel I am, as are most of my mates, then I don't think its a problem. However, there are people that just simply don't have self control; one of my mates always says he's going to limit himself, but when he loses what he came with he goes and withdraws more and more till he profits. There's been a time he's lost £7k in a night, he's the type of guy that can be labelled as an addict, as he would say he's studying at the library, but he would be at the casino on his own at 2pm during the day gambling (I caught him once doing this). And also it depends what you consider as 'high stakes'. I don't consider £100-500 being 'high stakes' in my eyes. That too, I only go once or twice a month to a real life casino (if that sometimes).

Same, if I go to the casino its for fun for a night out type of thing, for entertainment. I don't go there solely to make money, mostly for the thrill and have a good time with mates.

If I make a fair bit of money then its a bonus. If I end up losing what I came with, then it's fine since I come most of the time to the casino knowing I will lose what I bring, and limit myself. :p

Won $35k from $400 over the course of a couple of months playing blackjack and roulette, most i bet was $2k a spin of roulette. Ended up losing it by continuing to play stupid along with around an extra $2.5k so ended up - roughly $3k. Still go regularly though, just with a small amount - usually 200-500 and leave if i make a decent amount.
Usually tend to spend an hour or two in there, usually after a night out with mates of mine, depends how fast i lose my money! Started playing poker aswell sometimes.
Biggest win in a single night - $10,000.
Biggest loss in a single night - $6,000.

Wow, that's lucky but sucks you lost it, pretty similar situation that happened with me. I prefer online poker (pokerstars), not into live poker, and the poker at the casino nearest to me has too small buy-ins (max £50 buy in) that I don't like.

After spending so much time on the Dragon Dyce staff & taking so many bets myself, I really don't understand exactly how so many people like to gamble as a hobby. Of course, places like Las Vegas have a lot more entertainment to offer than just the games. My worst and final gambling loss was $2,500 in one night (after being up $2k already), and just knowing that $500 loss still exists has put me off from ever even wanting to gamble against the house. I do enjoy friendly wagers (and obviously I'll accept bets reasonably in my favor), but knowing exactly how much you are spending per bet is just so low-value compared to basically every other use of your entertainment money.

I do suppose there is a unique thrill of gambling that really can't be matched by anything else, but it sure can be achieved without giving up odds.

I was more referring to loosing $25,000 in two nights.. As well as the $1,000 single spin. You'll develop a rush from that, which can lead down a bad path.

I wasn't saying this is where you are, or that you are going to go down it. I was just giving my point of view on what can potentially happen, hopefully it'll sit in the back of your mind "if" you ever feel any 'urges' to gamble.

Went to tokenbets up 300m, left down 1.3b, never again.

$1500 down the drain, was nearly the end of my online career, perm.

At that time I was a month or 2 into goldstop.net which I ran on $100.

Literally lost 90% of my capital/money.

Bounced back of course though, Now I've donated that to various forums and stuff at this point lol.

Ah right, I get your point I guess.
But I'd basically made that amount from a low amount, thats the only reason I was gambling with such high amounts.

People do it because it gives them a thrill - the idea of making quick money, easily, with minimal effort, and some fun in it. That being said, odds are mostly irrelevant to people who play casino games regularly, as the house edge in games like Blackjack isn't insanely high, its fairly low, and people don't care about it since it makes minimal difference. Same with people betting on flowers of 60x2 on RuneScape, theres clearly house odds involved but people still bet knowing that as there's still a high chance of winning the bet.

After hosting in Runescape I never gambled even tho I can literally gamble at the casino at the age of 18 one hour away from me. As Xier0 said, when you take bets as the house you see how much profit you make off of the bettors, and then betting without odds seems very stupid at that point. So... I don't think I'll ever do it until i go to vegas with like a few hundred dollars with my buddy's and family to have some fun with and kill time:)

Just hit this point also in my betting career. Don't think I'm going to solo ever again in RS and also not super interested in gambling at a casino unless it's just sort of as a joke with a couple hundred bucks for a mates birthday :p

I can't wait to be able to answer these questions. I love playing poker and playing on the lil slot machines and shit but I've only ever been allowed in arcades. I'll be 21 in less than a year so maybe I'll start saving up like $500 or something for my first night out there. I'm in love with chance, and I consider myself decent at playing cards.
