    Started Career!

Hey guys I'm just so excited about my new career I wanted to share! About a year ago I began training the CEO of a Commercial Real Estate company. After some time he offered me a job at his firm. Fast forward several months and I am currently a fully licensed commercial real estate agent!! Humble brags and all that, but seriously I grew up with nothing (actually very poor), left college with $0 in my bank account but worked hard to get to where I am (Am currently 26).

Tl;dr This is meant to be inspirational in a way. No matter how bad/dark things may seem they always tend to have a way to work out for you! Keep fighting on friends!

I have been there man. I've actually been invited to speak at my college to students in business. In our early/mid twenties we don't really know what to do, where to go, and so on and that's totally normal, but it stresses us out big time. I don't have a polished "speech" yet, but everything turns out ok so long as you have at the very least a rough plan as to what you want to do with yourself =)

Congratulations! I personally recommend saving as much money as you can while you're young. If you haven't yet, check out reddit's /r/personalfinance subreddit - its chock full of super helpful experience and information!

College sucks. Real world is so much better if you get a real degree and get a good job.

I'm happy to see all the positivity in this thread!!
College was rough for me, I went for business and worked night shift as an auditor for a hotel. Failed an 8am class one semester, actually rode a bike to work and then to school.
BUT like I said, perseverance can go a long way!
I've been through some really dark times but always had someone/something to pull me out whether it be friends, family, a new love interest, a video game (no joke), there's always something to hold on to!

What was the sort of process you went through to become an agent? You know, what roles did you go through in college and what not.

    What's your daily life like?

Honestly not once in my life did I ever think about becoming a real estate agent until the CEO of the company I was training told me I should work for him. In New York you have 3 requirements to get a real estate license, residential and commercial both have the same license (which is really stupid since they are vastly different).
1- Take the 90 hour course, pass final test with 75 or higher (it's difficult, but not if you study)
2- Take the NYS exam (this test was much easier than the class exam)
3- Find a broker (usually the last step...but I had a broker before my license)

So, I do commercial real estate which means anything non-residential. I live in Albany NY, so usually office buildings, "skyscrapers", stores, malls, etc. The commission can range from a couple thousand to a few hundred thousand on big deals.
Current day in a nutshell is harrass the other agents to tag along on meetings, showings, and deals to learn as much as possible. The 1st year can either make or break an agent, but so far I'm doing just fine :p
