Been away for a while... I was thinking of starting Deadman mode

Is it worth it? Do we have enough people playing?

Anybody have a Sythe clan chat or something along those lines? Seems like it would be awfully hard to start up otherwise?

Does magic count as a skilling skill? (for all those superheat ores)!

What are the best skills to protect?

What else am I missing? Are pures still useful?

Are pures still useful? No 40 defence is prob your best bet till your high in offensive stats

My personal recommendation would be to not start DMM this late without an already established clan/group of people who you could team up with. Starting at this point as a level 3 would just be so disadvantageous due to (1) suiciders/people who hunt low levels, (2) how much of a hassle it would be to complete some of the essential quests (not sure how heavily these spots are still being camped though), and (3) how far ahead everyone else is; the majority of people roaming the map are 110+, with a few 120+. Of course, this is only if you're looking to PK. If you're just interested in skilling/making money, there's still a lot of opportunity considering how healthy the economy still is and taking into account the rates when selling or swapping to 07. Either way, if you play it smart from the very beginning and plan everything out well, you should still be able to get pretty far and have a bit of fun with the game mode.

Also, there's a fair amount of people playing, but clans have basically taken over. Not to mention how many of the regular pkers are allied with each other, meaning that they don't spend any time killing each other (and setting each other back in progress) and can instead hunt for everyone else. IMO the mode is slowly dying because of this.

For skills to protect, magic/range and hp are the two most important combat skills, and when you can insure hp at 75, you should probably switch over to both magic and range. For noncombats, agility is an essential one due to run% restore and the shortcuts that it unlocks. The other two are up to you, slayer, herblore, crafting, thieving are all fine options.

Good luck if you do decide to start playing. I've quit myself but there should be a few Sythe members who still do play (there should be a recent thread about this). There's also talk that they might introduce seasons in which case I'll definitely come back, the first few weeks after release were definitely the most fun I've had in a while.

Is DT still doable or will I die 5 billion times before I can finish it? If its doable then I figure alching in a safe zone/there must be somewhere to train range in a safe zone as well would be able to let me catch up?

 

Even if you die research 25% exp loss and hp insurance as well as burying bones vs using an altar and dying. 200 D bones is 50 pray.

 

Good news! Deadman seasons are announced! You'll be able to start with the rest of the lot when the new servers come out! Yay!
