Lets say you are spending 1 billion every year for X. Now you build a wall that costs 5 billion and after that you have to spend 500 million on X every year. Maintaining the wall costs 50 million every year. This means you are spending 450m less every year and after 11 years you would have spent less if you had not build the wall. This is why would would want to do something that COST A LOT of resources, in order to SPEND LESS IN OVERAL. You can't honestly be this stupid to not have figure this out before?
