[Help] Help me Fix My Toshiba Laptop Get $5

There's a boot error that I've been told is caused because windows 8 or 8.1(the operating system) has corrupted.

Bought this at best buy like a year ago, used it twice I think.

They want $150 to remove & reinstall the operating system, which seems insane.

The guy even told me toshiba would send me a windows 8.1 recovery installation disk for like $20.

Thing is, toshiba only allows u to pay via credit/debit which I'm not doing.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

It's a boot error(blue screen then like error code: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx#s')

Was told its the operating system is corrupted.

If you can fix this without me spending a shit ton(Under $50 pref), pls let me know below, I'll drop u $5 if it works.

Atm I'm on a windows xp,2002 computer with 1.25 gb of ram, I loved that laptop it was like god to me when I got it(only used 1-2 times), I miss its RAM and want it to work again.

SO tired of only being able to have 1-2 tabs open lol :(...

Download windows 8.1 iso, burn it to a disk.

Press whatever f key shows you the bios when you boot up the laptop. Then go to boot options and boot from the disk. Follow the prompts to install windows. Run all your windows updates.

That's assuming you don't care about the data on the laptop and want to just put a clean OS on it.

It's really simple to do a format of your drive & a re-install of windows.. You can be competent with this after a youtube video or two. However, bluescreens aren't always corrupt windows files there could be a multitude of problems.

However, I'd start with the format & re-install of windows. And see if that yeilds any results.

[Help] Help me Fix My Toshiba Laptop Get $5

    download this:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/

    Then, download windows 8.1 iso

run the win32diskimager program while having your USB key plugged in the computer you are using.

using win32diskimager choose your usb key as the destination drive and selec the windows 8.1 iso file you downloaded ... after that click "burn" or something on win32diskimager

after it's done, insert the usb key on which you burned the iso file in the PC that has boot errors and press the power button

you should see a logo (like "Toshiba") in the screen and on the bottom of the screen some indications of what key to press to enter BIOS setup should appear:

like "press DEL to enter BIOS" or something like that

in the BIOS, navigate to the Boot tab and select the USB key to boot from

then press ESC and it should tell you something like "Save and quit", select that option and press ENter ...

Your PC should then reboot and start windows installation ... follow the steps and if asked, select "new installation"

    hope that helped
