I recently built a new computer, and im wondering how long everyone thinks it will last as far as being able to run current/new games on nice settings :)

I am definitely interested in getting into CSGO is this computer capable of it?

    Motherboard: z97x Gaming 5 1G

    Processor: i7 4790k 4.0 gHz

    HD: Samsung Evo 850 250gb

    Graphics Card: GTX 970 4G

    Ram: Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB 2x8GB DDR3 2400MHz

cooled by 2 case fans and a cooler master 212 Evo, nothing gets hot according to Speccy.

More than capable for CS:GO. However, remember the 970 isn't quite 4Gb it's in fact, 3.5Gb with 500Mb unallocated. Hence the recent "vram gate" that everyone was complaining about.

Where csgo will use < 2Gb vRam at any time. Other more recent/demanding games will easily surpass the 3.5Gb limit.

If it were me, I'd go with a 980Ti but it could be out of your budget.

Also, the 4790k deserves to be overclocked, they easily reach 4.6-5.0Ghz. I've even seen some 5.0Ghz @ 1.33 volts.

    EDIT:

Resolution is massively important when it comes to graphics cards. If you're playing 1080p, you're fine.. 1440p might struggle on the vRam, but not in csgo. 4K then you're going to be running < 30fps on most titles.

Lol this is wayyyyy more than enough to play csgo, and any game for that matter.

Ram frequency can easily be changed in the bios. What i'd suggest is searching for overclocking guides related to your motherboard and get some learning in.

Overclocking the CPU brings in a lot more heat, if you haven't purchased an after-market cooler for your cpu don't even consider it until you've done so.

But nice build anyway, should be smashing games no problem. Also, the budget graphics card will hold out until pascal is released then you can upgrade.

When building a pc you should set a side a certain percentage for your graphics card. Seeing how you've spent the same on a graphics card as you have on a processor you're pushing your graphics card into the budget category of your build. Your better choice would've been to drop the processor down at least half and halved your threads and got a 3570k or similar. Then used the extra on a better tier card.

I'm not saying the 970 is a budget card, I'm saying it's a budget card in comparison to your build.

About the RAM, you can likely just go into the bios and enable XMP and it should set your ram to the right frequency.

I'd say you're sitting at an 8/10. I have a similar setup and I don't have any problems running games I throw at it with high / ultra settings. In the future you've got the option to SLI 970's or just pickup a new card all together so you've got some flexibility.

Just wanted to add that my perspective is from the 1080p 60 FPS one. You shouldn't have any problem running the same games I was talking about around 144 Hz if you wanted to, but you might want a beefier build if you're into 1440p+ resolutions and are still wanting high quality graphics.
