    How to be less materialistic...?

    Hi,
So my main question is, is there a way to try and make myself less materialistic. I honestly can never satisfy myself and I don't want this to carry on for the rest of my life. For example, I'm quite interested in photography. I recently got a very good camera (cannon 6D) and I have been using it for a bit but after about a month of owning it I now want the 5D (a better camera then the 6D). I have probably used it on a max of 6 outings and I already want the better one. This is just an example but it happens with many other things I buy (fishing gear, computer parts etc). If anyone used to be in the same sort of situation as me and were finally able to satisfy themselves without getting the best thing let me know what you did. I have a feeling part of the problem is the money I spend on this stuff I all won from gambling thats why I love spending it, but I think it would be better to save it...
    Thanks a lot,
    Zing

Lol thats true, money you gain fast is easy to spend. Try for once making a living off hard, hard work. Trust me, spending it will be all but easy.

Try not to visit those websites that promote the newer version.
Try to stop looking for newer versions online.

I'm personally a nightmare for it. I throw money away like nobodies business.. The way to attempt to prevent yourself is to remove easy access to the money. I.e a trusted parent you can transfer the money to hold on for you. Or an ISA account where it takes a few weeks to withdraw the money. Then, when you get the urges to spend. Literally just transfer that amount into your ISA and deal with it.

just be happy with what you have and maybe dont spend money on the same things in a certain time? its your call man but you can rather buy the best one than buy 3 things and then the best one

Some people can appreciate what they've got and make do with it. However, some people because they "can" afford the better option, go and do it. Then two weeks later they're into something else, and spending more on that. I do this myself. However, after careful planning and personal restrictions to the money it works out a lot easier when you can't afford to get it so you don't bother thinking about it.

I get where you're coming from i really do, what i can suggest is use crappier things, pretend you dont have access to funding/nice things. and try and enjoy what you use. then slowly move up to it, and just BE HAPPY. Try taking a picture on a basic camera like a $150 digital one, try getting the best shots you can and eventually move yourself up, you just got a new camera have used it 6 times and want a new one? start a savings account that you can't withdraw from, save for something huge, set a budget.

Maybe your problem is gambling more than spending. The value of your money will increase to you if you put in the hours to work for it rather than gamble for it
