I know I posted this in the spam forum but this Xiero guy really thinks he is correct lol


So he basicly just said this to me.



Which is exactly what he has been doing lol.

First making claims that are just outright stupid.

Then he quoted me a verse (he deleted the post after my response) which was taken out of it's context.

Then in PM he quoted me another verse which he thinks allowes men to beat woman based on a single word.

And he is accusing me of twisting words lol.

 

"and beat them" should be taken in it's literal sense. Not given an extraordinary interpretation. The words are to be construed in light of their surrounding context and as such provide that the word 'beat' wouldn't including telling someone to 'beat it'. That isn't the type of language that the writers of the Quran would have intended. But who am I, I only studied comparative law for a trimester.

The question here is who translated it as "beat them". The Quran was not written in English. Also you have to look at it as a whole, not one single word of verse. Read the whole chapter.

I'm taking it from what you've sourced. And if that's your source to your argument I assume you believe it's correct and as such, 'beat them' would be limited to physically manhandling a woman.

Look at this :

The Arabic word used in Noble Verse 4:34 above is "idribuhunna", which is derived from "daraba" which means "beat". The issue with all of the Arabic words that are derived from the word "daraba" is that they don't necessarily mean "hit". The word "idribuhunna" for instance, could very well mean to "leave" them. It is exactly like telling someone to "beat it" or "drop it" in English.

I liked reading this, and I like the points you made Chechen. This just goes to show that everybody interprets things differently and its all about perspective.

But in my opinion on this (please don't twist what I say) is that I know for sure there is a passage somewhere along even in the Christian bible about how women are supposed to be obedient to men and that we are to take care of them like a shepherd does his herd.
