I was denied?

Hi guys, writing this from my phone from mcdonalds *nom nom nom* I just got denied for a best buy credit card. I wanted one to do a 6 month plan to buy a ps4 COD3. After all the info I had to call an 877 number and confirm some info. After a while I got denied wtf.... Im 19 I got approved for a fking paypal card with a 3k limit. Is bestbuy just hard to get or what... Seems looking around online a lot of people got this problem.

 

it's never a good idea to start paying for stuff on a "per-month" basis, always best to pay in full for small items (like <1k $).

Exactly. Try to just save up for it and pay for it via credit card, and pay that off in 1 or 2 months. Otherwise, do you really need it ?

 

Credit cards for department stores are denied for the exact reason you want to use it for. Young kids apply to get trivial things; they put themselves in minor debt that often gets left unpaid and left to grow incredibly fast due to poor APR on these types of credit lines.

Another thing too is that credit cards for department stores are considered "luxury credit", or cards purposed to buy luxury goods (things you don't need: jewelry, electronics, etc). These are generally harder to get because you haven't proven yourself capable or responsible enough to pay debts on essentials yet, so how can they trust you to pay off non-essentials? I suggest you get a very small credit card, make small purchases each month on things like gas or food, and pay it off within the minimum pay-off date (which saves you from interest on most credit cards). Do this for a year or two, and you'll be able to get whatever type of card you'd like.

Another thing my mother did for all of my siblings and myself is to take car repair bills and put them in our name. So she gets the repairs or tire replacements done that she was already planning, pays like she was already planning to, but the good credit goes into our names.

Last thing, I was searching around and I only see CREDIT cards for paypal being available for small businesses or enterprises... are you sure what you have through paypal is a credit card, and not a debit card with a 3K withdrawl limit? If that's the case, there's a HUGE difference between credit and debit. Debit usually doesn't even require approval if you're 18+.

 

Why would you take out a 6 month loan to buy PS4?

 

if you were going to use the 6-month plan to pay it off, try saving up what it would have costed you each month and in 6 months buy it in cash ... chances are that it will also be cheaper too.

 

Just save up for it. At 19, you shouldn't even have debts. Getting credit cards is so bad because at that age, you'll end up being tempted to use it until you finally realize you're in a shit.
